Simran Balar Jain - You Cannot be Blind to What is Going in the World (Content Creator, India)

People don’t know your vision, roadmap, market positioning, revenues - they just compare you to some random company out of pure curiosity (at times jealousy, but mostly it is just curiosity)

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

So my name is Simran Jain and I have completed BBA in finance. In my final year of college, I had decided to begin my journey in 2018 probably & back then blogs were quite popular.

So I started with fashion and travel blogs and then did that for a year and slowly switched to different styles and formats of content creation as and when time passed. In the process, I learnt everything like how to shoot, how to click pic etc.

2. When did you first decide that you wanted to create content and how did you start?

I decided this in my final year of college and started with blogs which eventually is converted to vlogs and creating different styles of videos.

3. Is content creation a financially sustainable career?

I’m unsure about this as back then when I had started I did with a 9-5 job for atleast a year as that had fixed income and I treated my content creation journey as a side hustle.

Even now when I’m a good followers mark with great engagement in still unsure coz the payouts in this industry have like a 30-60 days timeline and we need to do a lot of follow-ups etc etc.

So if you are someone who has to pay rents regularly and other expenses..then depending only on this income might be tough unless you have long term fixed paid collabs

4. Who is your favourite creator and why?

My favourite creator is https://instagram.com/noordinarynoire

She is a powerful creator with full of energy- could name her “CONFIDENCE QUEEN” her page is resource of relatable videos positivity and self-confidence. Her energy has driven me to draw inspiration from her vibrant personality.

5) How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?

Just from our daily chores or when I’m having conversations with my mom regarding sexual and woman Hygiene content and I think inspiration is everywhere if you relate towards it and if I do I quickly churn that too a relatable content.

6. What does your typical day look like?

As of now I wake up by around 7 drink 2 glasses of water and then hit the gym, after that I come back and start with my office work, after this I start getting prepped for my shoots and by evening I do the edits and postings and night before I sleep I brainstorm on ideas by drilling through YouTube or google or read some magazines.

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

I don’t have any favourite book as I don’t read, but sometimes I do listen to podcasts. (Ranveer’s podcasts)

8. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring creators?

People don’t know your vision, roadmap, market positioning, revenues - they just compare you to some random company out of pure curiosity (at times jealousy, but mostly it is just curiosity). You do you...

We are at the start of the greatest shift in humanity ever. You cannot be blind to what is going in the world.

None of the creators is perfect at the beginning or even after a certain level - some find your page or idea crappy.

Your task is to listen to the feedback carefully, and do stuff to make sure you are happier and focus on the love you're getting towards that connection and eventually the money will also come. Be consistent and dong gets get affected by negativity.
