Humans v/s Animals: Are Humans Really The ‘Superior’ Beings?

Source- HubPages

One of the most observing things on this planet when it comes to humans is that with progressing technology and intelligence, somewhere we are forgetting basic values that were supposed to nurture and guide us to make this world a better place to live.

In the entire history, humans are the only species in the animal kingdom gifted with supreme intelligence by god. Humans created things that benefitted the whole community but they also created horrible things which nearly devoured their own kind and mother nature itself.

On the other hand, animals don’t have the intelligence quotient as humans; they are instinctive for their survival but never forget their integrity towards nature.

“Animals are much better than humans, at least they don’t cheat”

Humans are Making Things Complicated and Worse

Mankind progressed so far from the stone age, creating wonderful inventions and discoveries to make life easier and effortless but in that process affected the world’s climate at an alarming rate than animals did!

Humans do not consider themselves animals because of their intelligence and a sense of being human. We made medicines from nature to ease the pain and at the same time created horrible weapons to kill the population. Humans- the embodiment of irony.

People who pledge to help nature and others are often the ones who just publicize themselves on social media wasting time instead of helping the ones in need. There are many incidents where humans have failed in their expectations and betrayed the closest ones for personal gain.

“Humans have both the urge to create and destroy.”

- Hayao Miyazaki

Animals are at least loyal and predictive in their behavior when it comes to help and support. Research shows that animals are better at understanding the emotions of humans and providing better support to mentally and emotionally affected people.

Take your furry pet for example. When you are mentally tired and fed up with daily routine and hectic work, your pet's unconditional love refreshes you. Your mood changes the moment you enter the house because, unlike humans, animals love unconditionally.

Ethiopian Girl Gets Saved by a Pride of Lions

In 2005, a 12-year-old Ethiopian girl was kidnapped by four men while walking home from school. It had been a week since the local police were searching for the girl and a rescue operation was in progress.

Fortunately, local police spotted the girl and were astonished to see a pride of lions surrounding the girl and the kidnappers were nowhere to be seen on the site. After the girl’s testimony, it was found that the kidnappers, while moving with her within the savanna terrain, got into a close encounter with that pride of lions. Later on, the police force captured the kidnappers on another site.

One of the kidnappers got injured and managed to run away leaving the girl behind. For more than 30 minutes, the lions were guarding the kidnapped girl. Not a single scratch by the lions was spotted on the girl. The girl was crying in fear for life but fortunately, lions dispersed as soon as the police showed up at the location.

Wildlife experts believe that the lions, at 1st sight, could have hunted the girl as their prey but since the child's crying sound and expressions are similar to lion cubs' cry, the lions must have changed their mind!

Animals as the Instinctive Beings

Every animal has their own wild instinct of either becoming the predator or prey. Very often, animals, just like humans, feel threatened and frightened in close, unexpected encounters. Sometimes, animals attack any potential threat to their survival. According to Darwin, “survival of the fittest” is the mantra when it comes to staying alive in this uncertain world.

What makes animals and humans different is that animals are predictive in their attacking instinct and behavior whereas humans attack from behind without reason or the fear of future threat. Animals live in the present and fear only when they are threatened in their surroundings whereas humans are afraid of their own future.

The Bottom Line

Are animals better than humans? Yes, somewhat when it comes to being unconditional, emotionally supportive, loyal, and trusting. As the superior race, remembering the fundamental values and living unconditionally to help other people is the lesson our society needs to learn.

Having empathy and gratitude for what we have and get is the most important lesson than getting into unrealistic thoughts which deviate our perception from looking at the actual reality as it is!
