If we really understand the meaning of a festival then we should celebrate it in such a manner. Festivals are not about making unnecessary noises or degrading the environment. Festivals bring moments of happiness into our lives and the motive behind celebrating any festival or any other sort of happy moment is just to spread happiness and bring a vibe of joy to the ambiance.
But for many decades crackers have become a crucial element in any kind of celebration. It is nothing but a shitty ball of fire and noise. Even in my childhood, these crackers were so fascinating for me but when I got to know about their hazardous after-effects it was a moment of deep realization for me.
People argue that we should do what we love and get happiness from doing it. But isn’t it so absurd and showcasing your selfish attitude. Let’s understand this argument with an instance: suppose there is a person who loves to kill people so she should keep killing people because this is what gives her happiness. Right? And leave others, it is deleterious for you as well.
Don’t Create A Cause Rather Find It!
What all negative consequences we are facing, among which air pollution is one of the major, is due to many reasons but not a single reason. There has been a hype that the environment is getting filthier due to firing crackers only on the occasion of Diwali.
It is quite obvious that if we burn firecrackers for any reason on any occasion then it is surely going to pollute the environment. But completely blaming the celebration of a particular festival is not fair and just. There are many other bigger contributors to the increasing level of pollution.
But this will also not be fair if we don’t even consider this as one of the major reasons. Every single reason needs to be addressed depending upon its efficacy.
Several major reasons are actually hindering life to sustain on this beautiful planet. And due to our irresponsible acts, these reasons are becoming rigid. Firing crackers is one of such acts that we can talk about. People mostly categorize pollution as a cause but for me, it is a consequence. Pollution is one there are hundreds of consequences like this.
How Deleterious Firing Crackers Can Be?
Pollution is the most visible problem caused by firing crackers about which every person has relevant information but still doing nothing to reduce it, not even avoiding certain harmful acts in daily routines. Let's underscore some more reasons to circumvent it that are also making the situation more critical.
1. Life-Taking Accidents - If you don’t have any concern about the environment or its degradation then at least you should worry about your precious life. There have been many instances where people died in accidents due to crackers' blasts. It causes heavy and irreversible loss that includes life loss and infrastructure damage.
2. Noise Pollution - As we know and experienced it so well that how noisy these crackers are. Noise pollution is equally hazardous to air pollution but it is just that it does not harm abruptly so severely, as fast as air pollution but can have show term effects which can develop hearing problems for humans and animals. Even many people become partially deaf due to this.
3. Littering - This might not bother many people but it is a considerable point. These firecrackers are a great source of litter. We are not able to keep what is already filthy and unclean; rather we are making it much more problem some by creating more of it.
4. Scary And Disturbing For Domestic Animals - Many people would not even consider this as a reasonable reason to avoid firing crackers. All the domestic animals feel so scary and annoying when they see or hear cracker firings. Domestic animals are so loyal and loving whether they are your pet or not. Every single life needs to be taken care of. Be a human, to love the animals!
Conclusion
I think any celebration is about disseminating love, fun, joy, and refreshment but surely not about creating an unnecessary disturbance in the innocuous environment as well as in our lives too.
Firing crackers in any way or on any occasion is not at all a good choice. People use them on many occasions like festivals, weddings, any success parties, etc. Even all of those who are acquiring a responsible position like politicians also do this in their success parties. Being responsible is the first step.
We should live in a clean and optimistic ambiance and let others also.
