"Whenever anything new comes my way, I just ask one thing: Is there any harm in doing it?

If the answer is No, I do it. I don’t even think if it would give me any benefit or it would just pass.

Eventually, everything turns out to be perfect" - says  Vagisha Jain an author, writer, entrepreneur and educationist.

1.Tell us about your journey as an entrepreneur.

A-

My entrepreneurial journey was full of ups and downs. I had restarted my whole career four times because of different circumstances. I first started my entrepreneurial journey in 2009 when I started my educational institute.

However, with the course of time, I had to switch back to job in 2015. I worked with SpiceJet Ltd. and then with Kumon India Sri Lanka.

In 2015, I also started writing content for Cloth Look Fashions media. Soon, I was appointed as the senior content writer. So, I kept on working full time into corporates and part-time as a writer.

Later, in 2020, after the COVID breakdown, I left my job to be with family in those testing times. Instead of feeling upset about what I would do, I considered it as a whole big sea in front of me and I could dive in wherever I wanted to.

Somewhere in my heart was also my hidden desire to go back to  entrepreneurship. It was all God’s plan that things started working in a way and I became a multidimensional entrepreneur. So, have a look at what all I could achieve after leaving my job in September 2020:

  • Author of book ‘Tune into the World of Radio: A complete Guidebook to Radio Journalism’
  • Co-author of an anthology ‘Drizzle’
  • Delhi State President of WICCI Media and Communication Council
  • Wrote and acted in short movie ‘Bandish’
  • Soft skills coach at CLF International Mega Model Hunt 2020 and trained models from 12 countries
  • Covered inspirational video stories of hundreds of people from different walks of life
  • Arranged Online Dance Sessions, Story Listening Sessions, Fun Camps for kids and adults to cope up Pandemic Stress
  • Host of travel channel ‘VVheels of India’
  • Made documentaries for government competitions

I have been providing content services in various domains, be it creative writing, content writing, academic writing, advertisements, resumes, scripts, etc. through Vagishajain.com. With my recent collaborations with Vishaal Still Arts, I am on the way to convert my content services into a Digital Media company.

Apart from everything I could achieve as a Freelancer, I also founded my educational institute ‘Tortoise Learning Solutions’. Here, we teach kids not only subjects, but life lessons to lead a happy and fulfilling life.

Eventually, the world started noticing the efforts I put to uplift myself as an Emerging Face of Women. I got acknowledged as:

  • #2 Content Writer in Top 100 Content Writers in India
  • Person of the Year 2020 by Contracts and Freelancers
  • Motivated many people through my interview on Workmob Meri Kahani 2020
  • Featured in Cloth Look Fashions Magazine
  • Invited as a Speaker with Global Fighters
  • Invited as a Special guest on International Literacy Conference by Skill Shark

Whenever anything new comes my way, I just ask one thing: Is there any harm in doing it? If the answer is No, I do it. I don’t even think if it would give me any benefit or it would just pass. Eventually, everything turns out to be perfect.

2. Do you feel prior knowledge about business can only make one a successful business person?

Nowhere the history indicates that to be a successful business person, you have to have the prior knowledge of business. All the big shots started from somewhere, like Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani started as a spice trader without any prior knowledge or enough money in his hands.

Jamsetji Tata had not much experience in business. But they have reached where we all talk about them. But the thing that matters to be a successful business person is ‘The Correct Mindset’. If you desire to grow, you have to take risks.

3. Describe your best solotrip, also brief us with some beautiful places to visit.

Solotrips nurture you as a person. I have special memories of my solotrips to Jim Corbett National Park, Bir Billing, Goa, and so on. Out of these, my trip to Bir Billing was the most amazing one.

I left my home at night. It was usual for me to travel at night. However, the autowala got so concerned that he personally made me board the bus. On the way itself, I met a fantastic group from Assam Tourism Department.

I made friends with half of the passengers and we all were talking and sharing regional cultures and beliefs. In Bir, I got the chance to live in a beautiful house previously owned by Lucky Ali.

It was a wonderful experience. I could stroll around the town on foot. Wherever I went, I was able to find someone from the bus. I even made friends with local people.

They all were really warm-welcoming. I visited a monastery for the first time in Bir only. Luckily, I went inside when their chanting had started.

I sat there for half an hour. It was a mesmerising experience to listen to their hymns in a synchronised and elated way.

And the best and most precious was to fly in the air like birds. I had planned for doing paragliding only once, but I did it twice. I never had such an enthralling experience ever in my life.

4. Tell us about WICCI and your part as President.

I have recently joined WICCI as Delhi State President of Media and Communication Council. The purpose of WICCI is develop different areas of focus and diverse endeavours to mainstream women’s voices and uphold women’s interest in policy making at multiple levels.

My role as State President to work for and bring substantial change in the Media and Communication sector. For this year, we have kept the focus to curb down fake news, scams and scandals in Delhi region.

As we have observed for the last few years, many riots have been because of fake news circulation, so we are particularly focusing on that.

5. How do you plan and prioritize your different roles?

This is a very important question. These days, youth are more inclined towards fulfilling all their desires. This has eventually led us to be multidimensional professionals.

The major difficulty now is to manage all such roles. To handle that, I have made a clear distinction in my mind about what’s my prime profession, my secondary profession, and what’s my passion.

Based on that, I allocate more number of hours to my professions. Apart from that, I keep a day or two, like Saturday or Sunday, for my passion. On the top of that, whenever I do a particular task, I fix my full attention there and forget about other ones. Hence, it helps in bringing out maximum output.

6. Please provide some tips to freshers.

Well, everyone has their own journey. But yes! There are some tips that I would really like to give to the freshers:

  1. Destiny is in your hands. Have belief in God and yourself, and you would be able to achieve whatsoever you want.
  2. Love whatsoever work you do.
  3. Don’t think about the benefits you would get from the opportunity coming your way. If you feel there is no harm, go for it.
  4. Initially there may be little or no money involved, but don’t lose heart. Keep your mind stable by doing regular meditation. Success is never extended in a day.
  5. Take full advantage of social media to highlight your work. Social media is in full swing in this day and age.
