2. When did you first decide that you wanted to create content and how did you start?

The first time I realized I liked creating and editing content was in high school. We did a project that we filmed and edited together. I watched the team who edited our video and said this is what I want to do with the rest of my life.

I always had a fascination with video cameras and would use my dads camera when I was younger to just play around. I then proceeded to join the media team in high school and revamped their morning shows and brought power and life to their content.

At the end of my senior year I had an internship in New York City with Micheal Mailer Films where I commuted from south jersey to New York City at 18 years old barely having enough money for food and the bus to have the opportunity.

I then spent the next few years creating and experimenting with my own camera and wasn’t until I was living in New Mexico that I landed a gig with a company called TurnHere. This was in 2008 when Youtube started to become a big thing.

I went from no portfolio to producing 90 video ads for different restaurants, casinos, resorts and hotels all around the state.I had 24 hours from getting the job to going filming editing and sending back to approval. I worked with Yellowpages, city search, NBC Universal to create content for their websites.

It wasn’t until 2013 where I really understood content creation from the job I had with an entrepreneur that was all about marketing and content creation. I didnt know what a brand was, but I realized that what I had been doing was branding. So I first started creating my own content about myself when Meerkat and Periscope were a thing.

I did live videos and then that progressed into me producing 3 videos a day about myself. I saw that the more content I made the more money I would make as a sales professional.

This is where I made the connection. Since then I have produced thousands of video ads for clients, and hundreds of videos and photos for my own personal brand.

3. Is it a financially stable career ?

Yes my business does 7 figures every year. It does not come easily, but as long as you do the right successful actions, put the time in, make the calls, do the marketing, create the content, and be consistent you get the results.

I used to think it was a secret formula that was needed, in truth it’s the above. Get trained, work on yourself, work on a steady mindset and be ready to attack the day everyday.

4. Who is your favorite digital creator and why?

I do not have one that I can list but I will give you the profile of what I like as I know so many. These are the guys and girls that are consistent. They are there for their audience, they do not belittle, contradict, antagonize and change their story just to suit the situation.

They present valuable solutions that make sense and are immediately applicable or are entertaining in an ethical way. Their content uplifts instead of degrades. Their content offers clarity instead of confusion.

They make sense and you enjoy listening to them. The goal here is to enhance not create problems for others because of their content. In the age of where anyone can become an influencer, the information has to be logically sound and not made up.

Too many times I see under qualified people talking about scaling businesses, marketing and more and they have never run or had the experience to truly do what they are talking about.

You have to pick carefully and wisely.

5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?

Honestly I listen. I observe. And I hear what people are saying. On average I make 200 calls a day and promote to over 50,000 people per day. I know the pulse and see what people struggle with or have questions on.

My goal then is the assumption that they are not the only ones that have that question or consideration so I will go create content about it. They say that out of 100 people who like your content, maybe 3 of them will actually comment a question or state what they actually feel.

I use what is said, what is asked, what is made out in the open as the primary driver for content creation based on my knowledge, skillset and understanding.

6. What does your typical day look like?

My typical day starts around 7AM, I get my vitamins, my green juice, and ready for the day. By 8 I am at my desk and starting to make phone calls, emails, text messages to incoming leads and potential clients.

I write out everything in a to do list to ensure that it gets done during the day with targets for number of calls, interviews, appointments and social posts. I make sure that everything is covered that I need to handle.

I then follow up with my team on any outstanding projects that need attention to make sure everything is running. Depending on the day I go through my meetings with clients to help them develop their social media brands and topics for marketing.  Every Wednesday I have my live training at 7PM EST for an hour on marketing and branding tactics.

I work with lead advertising analyst to look at campaigns and make sure they are optimized and performing well then decide if anything needs to be tweaked during that time. I usually have lunch around 12, no breakfast, and then hit the gym or go surfing for an hour around 2pm.

During this time I am posting on social media, doing instagram stories, Facebook stories, posts, YouTube content and distribution. Through the day I do anywhere from 90-120 social media posts.  In the afternoon, I continue my sales calls, my outreach and usually land somewhere around 100-120 calls done per day.

Later in the evening I take about an hour or two to work on myself personally making sure Im in good condition mentally and spiritually and look at any issues I need to clean up or look at what is working and reinforce it. I sometimes take my wife out and we go for a drive to get a coffee and spend some time together and create content at the same time for social media.

The day is very regimented but mostly free flowing. As long as I hit all the major targets and accomplishments I am good. By the end of the night I may watch a movie to disconnect or a tv show for an hour and then repeat everything the next day.

7. Which is your favorite book and why?

My favorite book of all time is Science of Survival by L. Ron Hubbard. The reason being is that in life understanding and reading people is a critical skill. Both from a sales perspective but also from a safety perspective.

There are dangerous people and there are great people, knowing and being able to distinguish the two can lead to success or failure on your part. I wanted to know how to predict human behavior based on what they said, how they acted and be able to discern truth from fluff.

That protection and understanding has lead to almost a problem free lifestyle for me and for the acceleration of good partners, relationships and friends. If you want to make money, you need to protect your space and who is in it at all times.

8. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring creators?

As someone who went to school for it and then dropped out, I found that building my portfolio of work and getting productions done, paid for or not put me in a better position in the marketplace.

Start building your portfolio of work today, start building your brand today, start showcasing what you know today and it will evolve and work over time to get you into a better position. There is no question that if I had done this sooner, I would have moved faster up the line. I attribute all of my success with my business today because I did the above.
