How I met your mother is a popular American sitcom that was created by Craig Thomas and Carter bays for CBS. The show mainly focuses on the life of ted Mosby an architect and his friends as he recounts the story of how he met his children’s mother. once you have watched the show it will always be on your mind because of the show’s hilarious take on life but besides manoeuvring us into a rollercoaster of emotions the show also had many lessons to share that we can learn from. so here are some of the lessons I learned from how I met your mother.

1. Nothing good happens after 2 a.m.

When Ted recounts his early life to his children, he uses the phrase that” nothing good happens after 2 a.m. Even though the series takes a funny take on that it does teach us a very important lesson. When you decide while your mind is exhausted and tired sometimes you end up making the wrong decision and more often than not you regret that decision the next day. so, to avoid such situations which you might end up regretting it’s better to just go to sleep after 2 a.m.

2. Dreams are not achieved overnight.

This is a lesson that we learn from robin as she struggles to adjust to New York life and get her dream job as a news anchor. She faces a lot of ups and downs throughout her career and also the fear of being deported. She is a hard-working, independent woman who wants to create a name for herself and is equally willing to make sacrifices to achieve her dreams but it doesn’t happen magically or in a few years, it takes time and a lot of tough decisions on her part.

Their career was always Robin’s priority and she keeps on climbing the stairs until she reaches her destination. the biggest lesson that we learn from robin is that she never gives up and knows what she wants to do with her life and she makes sure that she achieves whatever she ever dreamt of.

3. Relationships involves ups and down

We get to know a lot about relationships and how different people perceive them differently through this sitcom. the one we are going to discuss now is about lily and Marshall.

Their journey was not an easy one.it involved lots of tears, screams, joy, and laughter but in the end, what mattered most was that they didn’t give up on each other. they made a lot of mistakes, fell out a lot of times but in the end, they always found their way to each other. which teaches us that falling in love is the easy part but what is tough is staying in love.

Staying in love requires a lot of effort and teamwork. if you are willing to make sacrifices and compromises, love needs all these to grow but some people just give up in the middle not able to bear the difficult part of loving someone lily and Marshall teach us exactly what it is to be in love and to continue being in love.

 4. Friends are the essence of life

Ted’s life is messy and he has a lot of different women across different stages of his life but even in his ever-changing life what remained constant was his friends. they have their fights and troubles but, in the end, when problems come into one’s life they eagerly try to fight back.

His friends are always there for him no matter what and got his back which brings us to another crucial lesson that time brings a lot of changes and sometimes your friend will move away from you they will start their lives and have their own family and make new friends but no matter what true friends if not by your side they will always stay in your heart and be a part of your life.

 5. Reality is different from that teenage dream

It’s hard to hear this. I know. As teenagers, we have all dreamt of our ideal life and the way it will look and the things we will do when we reach our twenties, Marshall had similar dreams. He wanted to become an environmental lawyer and he was also very passionate about it.

But then reality hit him and he realized that to pay the debts he needs a job that can pay him well and as much as he hated the corporate world, there was money in that but he does go on following his dream of being a lawyer even if it took him a while because he got the much-needed support from lily. But then his life did teach us a lesson that even when life teaches you the real, hard lesson don’t let go of your dreams.

Conclusion

We learn that no matter how old you are or how long you have been yearning for love, there is always someone for you. When Barney's infant daughter, Ellie, is born, he also teaches us this. "You are the love of my life," he declares firmly.
