About The Author

Liv Albert is an American author and podcaster who has a degree in classical civilizations and English Literature from the University of Concordia. She is the author of two books-  “Greek Mythology: The Gods, Goddesses, and Heroes Handbook: From Aphrodite To Zeus, A Profile Of Who’s Who In Greek Mythology” and “Nectar of Gods: From Hera’s Hurricane To The Appletini Of Discord, 75 Mythical Cocktails To Drink Like A Deity” which are both bestsellers.

About The Podcast

Myths have often always been told in the form of monotonous stories, in a chronological, factual manner with no room for question, speculation, and novel perspectives. This is precisely what “Let’s Talk About Myths, Baby!” does not do.

In the podcast, Liv Albert talks about Greek and Roman mythology, telling their stories in chronological order, calling out sexism, patriarchy, misogyny, homophobia, queerphobia, and other problematic phenomena that these myths sometimes contain. The podcast is a humorous and sarcastic work that views mythology from the lens of intersectional feminism.

Liv Albert does not shy away from talking about the lesser-known and controversial aspects of mythology and deeply explores every facet of them with an interesting viewpoint that is not as outdated as the one that the majority of people who talk and write about myths use. She challenges the shortcomings of mythology and praises the beauty and eccentricity of it all.

Some of the episodes of this podcast include: “Eatin’ Kids & Killin’ Dads, an Introduction To Greek Mythology”, “Perseus And The Crazy Things That Emerge When You Behead A Gorgon”, “Zeus, King of Gods And Creepy Old Man Who Tricks Women”, and “Theseus, Ruiner Of Women And All Around Awful Person”.

Personal Verdict

“Let’s Talk About Myths, Baby!" is a one-of-a-kind podcast that combines ancient myths and modern perspectives. The host, Liv Albert very beautifully tells the tales of Greek and Roman mythologies in chronological order and inserts her views and perspectives on the characters of these myths, the Gods involved in them, and the socio-cultural context they were written in.

She almost pokes sardonic taunts at them and talks about how messed up some of the things that did or indulged in were, and how they would never be approved of in the modern context. She offers quite empowering takes on the female characters of the myths that she talks about in the podcast, a trait that is quite rare to see in podcasts, and talks about ancient myths and history.

In addition to talking about characters and stories, and Gods, Liv talks about the foods, clothing, and culture that are associated with these myths and the regions that they hail from, thereby making the podcast a holistic and highly educational, and informative piece of work for anyone who has even a slight interest in mythology and legends, and wants to know more about it and the world of gods, demons, gorgons, and prophecies.

The Bottom Line

“Let’s Talk About Myths, Baby!” is the perfect podcast for all people interested in mythology- whether you are just beginning to understand them or are a seasoned expert in the world of myths and legends, this podcast caters to everybody’s needs.

It is highly engaging and it is hard to stop listening to it since Albert very skillfully spins the web of myths around one and keeps them hooked to it using her extraordinary storytelling skills. The podcast is available on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts and is free to listen to.
