Philosophy can be misunderstood by looking from a distance one should firmly get into brief to analyze its depth. People find it boring, weird, or sometimes irrelevant.

Let’s know what it is,

In ancient Greek Philo means ‘love’ and Sophia means ‘wisdom’. Philosophers are people who are devoted to wisdom and stay as wise people throughout their life and just attempt to live and die well While developing specific skill sets.

There is western philosophy and eastern philosophy in western there is total control in the student’s hands to make them open-minded, tend to give ideas, learn by understanding, and not be afraid of making mistakes. Lessons by Aristotle, Plato, and Socrates.

There is the teaching of Idealism, Realism, Naturalism, Existentialism, and Perennialism.

What Eastern Philosophy Bestows Us?

There is passive learning in eastern philosophy, there is direct knowledge from religious teachings such as Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, and Hinduism. We can call it the one-way transmission of knowledge.

There are two kinds of Eastern philosophy one is Orthodox in which Vedas are accepted and the other is Heterodox in which Vedas are rejected.

In eastern philosophy, we learn about the ideology of a wise person where in this modern time people are stuck between this sort of illusion that is of being in habit of a certain way of getting up and doing chores and then going down to the bed for repeating same on another day. This is the common thing we learned in eastern philosophy that we are more aligned toward this material world and we are very unfocused about our existence and our motive and that life is all about suffering.

Single Target with Different Cosmologies

In Watt’s influence through his studies, he defined eastern philosophy by different cosmology and traditions which are:

  • Hinduism
  • Buddhism
  • Taoism

The first cosmology is Hinduism in which there is this highlighted definition of the word ‘Brahman’ which is the ultimate reality of this world in which we are taught to break the cycle of the conditional reality of pattern. In this, we our individual self ‘Atman’, and we are trapped in the suffering cycle of ‘samsara’ and our rebirth is governed by our ‘karma’ in this life we are living.

Moreover, of personal ideology, you are that brahman by reuniting with them with a yogic view, with ultimate reality.

The second cosmology is Buddhism in which there is a belief in Buddha’s teaching which learned about 3 marks of existence and 4 Noble truths of humans. Life in this world is full of suffering everything is impermanent and we constantly change there is no permanent self(soul).

4 Noble truth

  1. Dukkha

The cause of our suffering is being consumed by self-centered craving (Tanha) in which there is the desire for things there is this constant urge for getting something out of deeds you do.

  1. The solution to dukkha is to eliminate your desire of getting something thus achieving ‘Nirvana’

  1. The way to nirvana is through the Eightfold Path of Right action, Right view, right intention, right mindfulness, Right ethics, right speech, right effort, and right livelihood.

  1. Nirvana extinguishes self-centered self

The third cosmology is Taoism which originated in China 2500+ years ago. Tao means Harmony with the natural order.

What Does Tao Said?

Tao talked about natural intelligence in life and said that everything is naturally placed by life itself whether we talk about birds, trees, or flowers there is a specific time for them to grow and die. And true harmony is gained by letting go and not forcing life to be this or that.

Taoism also known as ‘Daoism’, is a philosophy of religious and ethical tradition of Chinese origin that emphasizes living in harmony.

Toa gives teaching about opposing modern world and miserable life people leaving which concept of daily routines, competing every day, not sure about their goals and always in an unstable position.

Tao’s rules and philosophy had been discussed in Book TAO TE CHING by Lao Tzu which is the classic book of integrity and the way.

Sayings by Lao Tzu

Those who stand on tip-toe, do not stand firmly

Those who rush ahead, do not get very far

Those who try to outshine others, dim their light

Those who call themselves righteous, can’t know how wrong they are

  • Lao Tzu, TAO TE CHING,24

There should be no rush behind unnecessary things, there should be no show-off, and let softness overcome your heart.

These were some saying by eastern philosopher Lao Tzu. As many philosophies are similar and teach that the right path to wisdom is by being a wise man then it is the right thing to do because in this miserable, terrible, and selfish world one can only survive by serving kindness to each other.
