Shubhangi Anand - Just Don't Give Up (Makeup Artist From India)

Just don’t stop. Not getting views, followers or brand deals whatever it is I get it. Everyone has gone through it, every influencer. Just don’t give up, it’s all worth it.

1. Tell us about your background and journey -

So, I started out in 2017 and it’s been 5 years since then. After my schooling, I wanted to take part in beauty pageants. I did participate in Miss India, Miss Diva, and some others as well. But I still felt like this is not what I am really passionate about. Then I saw other participants' Instagram accounts and got to know that they were already working as models/influencers before coming here for miss India. I felt like I should also start doing something like this first. Work with brands, and makeup artists as models. So, that’s how I got into this field.

2. When did you first decide that you wanted to create content and how did you start?

I started when I was in my 2nd of my college. I was doing a B.A(Hons) in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College. I used to just click my ootd and post on my Instagram. It became like a daily thing. No Makeup, Fancy Outfit, Fancy Location, or any photographer to click my pictures. I just used to get ready for college and ask my friends to click my pictures and whenever I am not going to college, I would just do little makeup whatever my mom had (liner & lipstick) click selfies and post them.

That got me some followers around 2k. Then I bought a professional camera DSLR. My little brother got interested in photography, he was just in 10th class back then. So, then my brother started clicking pictures for my Instagram page and also for my blog. Till now he clicks my pictures and helps me with videos :)

3. What do you love about your job the most?

There is so much freedom. I just love that about my job. I can post whatever I want, and create content however I like. Creativity. And how much I can grow in the journey of content creation. Every time we as content creators push so many boundaries, get out of our comfort zone to create something new that is just good for the overall growth of a person. This job made me so much more confident.

4. Who is your favorite creator and why?

I don’t have any one favorite content Creator as such. I feel every content creator is unique in their own way. I like and respect all the creators out there

5. How and where do you find inspiration to do what you do?

I mostly post makeup hacks so whenever I am doing makeup and I feel I do it more easily. I just make a video on how you can do a particular make step in an easier way for beginners especially. And also I see a lot of hacks on the internet, I just try and test them out to let my audience know if it actually works or not

6. What does your typical day look like?

My typical day would be just like me waking up, having my breakfast, and not using my phone for at least 1 hour after I wake up. Then I check my phone, reply to all the emails, WhatsApp business queries, and Instagram dm. Then I check how my videos are performing. Taking a shower and getting ready for the shoot.

Then I plan what I will be shooting today, and I write it down in a diary. I start shooting after lunch around 3. Shoot gets over by 7. Then I immediately begin editing the video which will go live today. Post it and edit other brand videos and send them for approval. It’s dinner time then hI has my dinner. Netflix and chill. Spend some time with my family. Play games, watch movies and the final day is over. On weekends I don’t really work. We got out usually for movies & dinners.

7. Which is your favorite book and why?

I don’t read books as such. I have read some novels though back in the day and my favorite would be P.S I love you. I just love that novel. It’s so beautiful.

8. What piece of advice would you like to give to future content creators?

Just don’t stop. Not getting views, followers or brand deals whatever it is I get it. Everyone has gone through it, every influencer. Just don’t give up, it’s all worth it.
