I am a person who loves to try out different cuisines and dishes, but my heart always crawls back to Indian food. It’s my ultimate comfort food. We have so many dishes and so much variety – perfect for any and every occasion! Dinner ideas for a party? Biryani. Snack for monsoons? Kanda bhaji. There’s food for every mood.
1. Please tell us about your background and journey.
I am a hardcore Mumbaikar by heart, have lived there all my life. A few years ago, I moved to Dubai for a job and now I keep shuffling between the two cities very often because I am super attached to my family. Though cooking was always a hobby, I started cooking regularly only after moving out. Soon I was posting pictures and sharing recipes with some friends and family. That’s how the passion for food and cooking grew even further.
2. Which is your favourite cuisine and dish?
Favourite cuisine is undoubtedly Indian.
Favourite dish might sound super cliché, but it’s really anything made by mom. Bharli vangi is that one dish that might bring me back from the dead.
3. Should food blogging be just a passion or can it become a regular career?
I can’t see why not. There are a lot of things people say – you can’t mix passion and career. Or you will lose interest when you do it every day. But I believe it just depends on person to person, can’t be generalised.
4. Which restaurants/food joints would you recommend to food lovers?
Oh, too many to list! Top ones I can think of are Masala Library, Bhagwati Pav bhaji, Bombay Canteen, Socials, Sigree. I am a huge fan of Mumbai street food so vada pav, pav bhaji, Mithibai sandwich, and Mysore masala dosa from any street vendor is also something I would recommend one to try.
5. What makes you appreciate a particular dish or a restaurant and talk about it on your blog?
The taste of the food is the key parameter for me to judge a restaurant and talk about it, and decide if I am visiting again. Bonus points for them offering something different and unique, or just preparing a regular dish in a whole new way. All these experiences would make someone want to talk about the place.
6. Is there a dish you particularly associate yourself with?
I’d like to associate myself with rice. Simple, uncomplicated and goes well with almost anything. Also, because I am a big-time rice lover.
7. Which is your favourite book and why?
Very hard to choose one single book. But I love reading fiction, so you can call any book by Sidney Sheldon, Stephan King, Anuja Chauhan, and Jeffery Archer a favourite.
