The 2022 Indian Hindi-language criminal thriller movie Drishyam 2 is based on the 2021 Malayalam film of the same name. It also acts as a sequel to the 2015 movie Drishyam, which was adapted from the same-titled 2013 Malayalam movie. Ajay Devgan, Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta all appear in the movie.  In supporting parts, it also has Mrunal Jadhav, Rajat Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, and Kamlesh Sawant.

There aren't many movies that stir a universal discussion. We just witnessed this with Baahubali when everyone was intrigued by "Katappa ne Bahubali ko kyu mara," which served as the first part's cliffhanger. In the same vein, Drishyam had such a profound effect on the audience that its central theme practically became synonymous with the date 2nd October!

Breaking the Bollywood spell

Ajay Devgan's Drishyam 2 appears to be a glimmer of hope for Bollywood after several hotly anticipated films failed to draw audiences to theatres. On November 19, the movie was released. In just two days, it brought in Rs 37 crore in India. The movie continued to make money at the box office on its third day, earning another Rs 27 crore, bringing its three-day total to Rs 64 crore.

According to reports, the movie's gross will surpass $100 million soon. According to reports, in some cities, the demand for tickets was so great that the theatre owners began showing the movie early in the morning and late at night.

Stellar Star Cast

Ajay Devgan as Vijay Salgaonkar is irreplacable. Through it all, Ajay Devgan maintains a straight face and doesn't reveal anything, heightening interest in the upcoming events.

In the franchise, Akshaye Khanna is the latest addition. He is a creditworthy actor, and when paired with Tabu's unforgiving Meera, the pair is formidable. The majority of the movie is supported by them as well. They are steadfast in their pursuit of making the family suffer, establishing the audience's dread of their favorite characters and generating just the right amount of tension to keep everyone engrossed.

Shriya Saran portrays Nandini as a perpetually anxious wife and mother who frequently brings up that eerie fatal night in conversation with both family members and Neighbours.

The persona of Vijay's hired screenwriter Murad Ali, played by Saurabh Shukla, fits the actor. Saurabh Shukla's reserved performance and punches in his little but crucial role increase the intrigue and intensity.

Cult of Drishyam 1

The first Drishyam 2 already provided Devgan's picture with a clear blueprint. The only thing left to do was to execute it correctly. It rarely is, even though it could sound simple. Good Luck Jerry was at most mediocre, and Vikram Vedha's version fell short of its potential.

However, the filmmaker Abhishek Pathak succeeds in making a film that is 100 percent successful and, in this economy, that is a remarkable achievement.

Strong Plot

The movie's plot has never been a traditional whodunit. It immediately identifies the offender, and Vijay's deft wit rescues the day. We never, however, question his morality; rather, we applaud his efforts and the methods he uses to support his family. But as was already said, Devgan will overcome all of his challenges; the only remaining questions are "how" and "when".

Even while we know the hero will ultimately prevail, the movie is playing with these obvious questions, leaving the viewer in the dark each time we are led to assume he will be found guilty. The storytelling's highs and lows contribute to Drishyam 2's success.

Hindi dubbing is not available

The fact that the Hindi dubbed version of the original Malayalam version of Drishyam 2 is not available proves to be a significant contributor to its success as it leaves no scope for comparison between the original Malayalam version and the Hindi dubbed version.

The Bottom Line

The Drishyam 2 box office haul: Bollywood movies have had a very difficult time staying afloat at the box office in the post-pandemic era. Drishyam 2, which stars Ajay Devgan, appears to have it easy. Day four saw strong box office results for the movie. It wouldn't be a surprise if the movie joined the Rs 100 crore club in its first week of release if the winning streak keeps up.
