I began as an assistant to wildlife and travel photographer Louis Kleynhans. I quickly began exploring the world documenting travel, culture, and life, and eventually moved back to New Delhi India where I started my photography journey.
1. Tell us about your background and journey as a photographer.
I am a professional travel and lifestyle photographer based in New Delhi India who explores the world documenting travel, culture, and life. I spent my formative years in India, but after traveling to South Africa to complete my master’s degree in Photography I discovered my passion for travel and photography.
I began as an assistant to wildlife and travel photographer Louis Kleynhans. I quickly began exploring the world documenting travel, culture, and life, and eventually moved back to New Delhi India where I started my photography journey.
2. How do you think photography helps one connect with the world and its diverse cultures?
It plays a very important in the history of humans, it gives us real information of the time, we are documenting our life on this planet frame by frame, what a beautiful way to keep our existence record. what an opportunity to learn for future generations, just by looking at the picture. If you think about it how to Instagram or Facebook connecting each other through visuals, they are using photographs to connect us, that's the main element in it. Imagine a life without camera now.
3. What professional photographers have influenced your work, and how do you incorporate their techniques into your photographs?
Joey Lawrence, Nick Brant
Try to learn their visual ideas and compositions.
4. Do you think editing is important for bringing out the meaning of photograph or the colors in it? Or do you prefer raw images?
Professionals use Photoshop. Period.
5. What's your favorite thing to photograph?
People, faces, each face tells a great story.
6. What, according to you, are the important skills one should have to be a successful photographer?
Patience, patience, and patience.
7. What are the biggest challenges you’ve faced to capture a moment or to get the perfect shot you want?
While traveling to South Africa, I came to know about the high tides in a close by Sea. After an arduous effort, I got this life-changing shot! I broke my thumb for it, And here is my quote, Either you get a great shot or a scar.
8. What are some tips you would like to share with amateur photographers?
Shoot, shoot, and shoot!
9. If not this, what would you be doing?
I would have been a chef.
10. Which is your favorite book/show and why?
Really fond of watching sci-fi. Stargate is my favorite show!

Aman has received awards from many prestigious organizations including The Siena International Photo Awards 2015 (Italy), IPA AWARD, United States in the Portrait Category. He exhibits regularly in India and recently exhibited his “ Portraits” collection of work shot in Nepal to critical acclaim. He has been published in magazines and newspapers including National Geographic, Life Force Magazine, KLM I Fly magazine, India Today, Creative Gaga, The Platform, Outlook Traveler, Travel Secrets and Dodho Magazine apart from many others.
