The courses are aimed at offering high-quality education in a range of fields, and their accessibility makes them particularly enticing for students, professionals, and anyone interested in expanding their knowledge and skills.

Diverse Course Offerings

Out of the 35 courses, 32 are being offered by IIM Bangalore, while IIM Ahmedabad introduces three new courses in various domains. The diverse subjects include Human Resource Management, Information Systems, Finance & Accounting, Operations, Marketing, and more. These courses cater to learners of all levels and backgrounds.

IIM Ahmedabad's Courses

The IIM Ahmedabad courses are accessible through the Online@IIMA website. The two courses beginning on July 31st are HRM Strategy in the Human Resource Management field and Digital Transformation under Information Systems.

Additionally, the Behavioural Finance course, which falls under Finance & Accounting, will start enrolment on August 31st. These courses run for six weeks and are designed at an intermediate level, making them suitable for both students and working professionals without any prerequisites.

Enrolment Process

To enroll in these courses, visit the Online@IIMA website and navigate to the Learning Calendar section. Clicking on the course you're interested in will redirect you to the Swayam website, a platform managed by the Government of India that offers a wide array of courses from various institutions.

The enrolment process is simple: clicking the "Enroll Now" button leads you to the Swayam course page, where you can join the course.

IIM Bangalore's Offerings

IIM Bangalore provides 32 courses in fields like HR, finance, operations, marketing, and IT. It's important to note that while all the courses bear IIM Bangalore's logo, the name of the institute mentioned on top of it indicates the college or institution whose professors are delivering the course. This affiliation could affect the recognition of the certificate earned upon course completion.

Features and Format

Most courses, regardless of their offering institute, run for 6-8 weeks. They consist of regular, recorded lectures that are uploaded weekly—these are not live classes. Each week will also include assessments, such as quizzes or assignments. There's no eligibility requirement to join these courses; they are open to students, professionals, and individuals on a gap year.

Certificate Option

While the courses themselves are free, those seeking certification will need to pay a fee of Rs. 1000 per course. This certification can be a valuable addition to one's resume. The proctored exams for certification are planned to be held in offline settings across various centers in India, with dates ranging from September to December.

Final Words

The IIM Ahmedabad and Bangalore initiative to provide free online courses underscores their commitment to democratizing education and empowering learners.

These courses, covering a wide spectrum of subjects, offer learners the opportunity to acquire new skills, enhance their professional capabilities, and broaden their horizons—all at no cost.

Aspiring learners are encouraged to enroll in these courses and leverage this unique opportunity to further their education and career aspirations.
