I have never trained. I have sung out loud to songs I love and pushed the voice and lost it once for 13 months and nursed it back to health with the amazing Celia Lobo. One can get by only on the basis of talent, this is known!!
With over 3000 live concerts to my credit, I have rightfully earned the titles "the ultimate entertainer" by Citadel and "the mistress of music" by Maxim. I am proud to be the only Indian artist to have graced the cover of The Week magazine. During the lockdown, I received a special award from the India Nightlife Conventions and Awards (INCA) for performing over 179 back-to-back live concerts from home in just 145 days.
I have also been honored with the prestigious WOW Award for being the best singer/performer for weddings and social events. My contribution to the entertainment industry was recognized with the Femina Powerlist Award. Recently, I released my first-ever Punjabi-English collaboration titled "KITHE CHALI," which I wrote, composed, and performed. The music video garnered over 10 lakh views within its first week.
Besides my music career, I am also an accomplished actress, having appeared in popular web series such as "Baby Come Naa" on Alt Balaji, "Love Bytes 2" on Sony LIV, "Kaushiki" on Viu, and "The Remix" on Amazon Prime. I had the honor of being the only performer invited to perform at Priyanka Chopra's wedding to Nick Jonas with my incredible band.
My versatility shines through as I sing across various genres, including Sufi, folk, Bollywood, Punjabi, EDM, rock, retro, and disco. I have a unique mashup set list that sets me apart from other artists. With over 1.2 million fans following me on Facebook, I am undoubtedly the top choice for live performances.
Born into an Army family, I excelled academically as a straight-A student and topped my class in software engineering. However, I was fortunate to have a father who encouraged me to pursue singing as a career, leading me to where I am today.
2. When did you first decide you wanted to pursue music, and how did you start?
I believe my love for music began even before I was born. I used to kick in time to "Come Together" by The Beatles when I was just six months old in my mother's womb. As a child, I started winning stage competitions at the age of six, and my first victory was in Bhutan.

Initially, I never considered music as a viable career option, but it was my father who recognized my talent and guided me to switch from engineering to singing. I am grateful to him every single day for that decision.
3. Who is your favorite artist, and why?
Whitney Houston is my favorite artist. Her voice is truly magical, and I consider her my teacher in a way because I used to sing her songs passionately as a child.

4. Can you shed some light on the opportunities one gets as a singer?
I began my journey in the fashion industry, which gave me unique opportunities. However, those avenues are now relatively rare. Nowadays, singers have to create their own space online to secure concerts and song releases in the real world.

When I produced my first album, "Naach Le," I did everything independently. Though I was naive back then and sold the rights to a label, I now produce and release music independently or collaborate with other independent artists.
5. Is formal training required, or can one rely purely on talent?
Personally, I have never undergone formal training. I have always sung along loudly to songs I love and pushed my voice, even experiencing a 13-month loss of voice at one point.

6. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring artists? (artists in our case... musicians with an 'e' and painters without)
My advice to future and aspiring artists is to keep creating, singing, writing, and dancing. Don't worry too much about social media accolades or the number of likes you receive. Sing because you love it, and create because it's your calling.

7. Which is your favorite book, and why?
My favorite book is "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. The reason behind it lies in the experience of reading it and wanting the world to be the way John Galt envisioned.
