I think competition is an awesome thing to have in the tech creator world. You get to watch others make videos on products you love.
1. How did you first step into the tech world, and what made you want to share your insights?
I think I have always wanted to know what was coming in the tech world, making sure I had the latest and greatest products. It's the one thing that keeps evolving. If you took a 1-3 year break in tech, whether it’s phones, apps, etc., you would get left behind!
I think I started to want to share my insights more when the 2020 “Covid Year” came. It forced us to be home, and I am just not one to stay still. I got my PS5 pretty early, and they were out of stock, so I made sure I could answer as many questions as I could.
2. Any recent tech discovery or innovation that you're particularly excited about?
I recently went to CES in Las Vegas, and I am astonished with where AI is going right now, anything that involves something that learns actively but also can help us in our daily lives. There are so MANY products that I am excited about, but lots of them revolve around AI.
I think the Apple Pro Vision will be something that is not done lightly and excited about that, I will have one on release day to talk about. ;)
3. Rapid tech advancements require constant learning. How do you keep yourself up-to-date in this fast-paced industry?
Staying up to date in technology is an effortless feat in today's society, as you can go to so many tech shows and or just stay up to date by reading multiple articles. Obviously, tech companies now have quarterly meetings that are either broadcasted or transcribed so that you can read them.
But I think for me as someone who previews and reviews things, it's to stay in contact with the companies that produce new products. You are getting to test out things before the public eye and in a way be a beta tester for physical products.
4. Share a moment that made you realize the impact you could have as a tech influencer.
I think any time you make a post and it makes a not-so-known company known is a huge accomplishment. At the end of the day, lots of companies are either competing with big companies or just trying to get their own brand known. So when you have a viral video that gives a company some name recognition, it’s very cool. You get a cool email or a call from a company that tells you what happened, and it’s always an awesome feeling.
5. What's a major challenge you encountered as a tech influencer and how did you handle it?
I think competition is an awesome thing to have in the tech creator world. You get to watch others make videos on products you love. But you do run into maybe a favored influencer getting tech earlier than you and getting to talk about it, you are then looking at what they say through a microscope and judging it based on their opinions whether good or bad.
I try to go into everything exciting. From the unboxing, to the instructions and accessories to the product itself. I have a great time unboxing things and having an unbiased eye but also staying informed can be hard.
6. Could you share your favorite book and how it has influenced your perspective?
My favorite books always deal with mentoring, and out of these something that I tell everyone to read is “Tribe of Mentors” by Timothy Ferriss. I don’t think you can get anywhere in life without people that support you. Whether it’s family, your spouse, or your friends. But an important part of life is getting the right mentorship, someone who can show you the rights and wrongs and also point you in the right direction who can see your skills. I believe that anyone can be a mentor, for me it’s been a spouse, bosses at various jobs and without them… I am not sure I would be doing what I love to do. I do believe it’s also good to be transparent and also bring other people up with you and show them their skills that you see in them.
