1. Tell us about your background and journey
My name is Harsh Chauhan, and I am known as Harsh VLOGS online. I hail from Bhiwani, Haryana. Initially, I pursued a career in medicine as a medical student. However, my passion for technology and cars led me to explore content creation on YouTube. I transitioned into blogging, maintaining around 10 websites covering diverse topics. Alongside, I manage multiple YouTube channels, with some being private and others, like Harsh VLOGS, being public.
My blogging journey commenced when I was searching for ways to earn online, starting with the idea of creating blogs for monetary gains. Despite facing challenges, including unsuccessful websites due to copied content and mistakes, I persevered. After approximately 10 failed attempts, I achieved success in the field of blogging.
2. When did you first decide that you wanted to create content and how did you start?
One sunny day, as I meticulously washed my trusty Baleno—the very first car I owned—an idea sparked within me. Why not capture this moment and share it with the world? So, armed with my smartphone, I recorded a video of the car-washing process and decided to post it on YouTube.
To my astonishment, the video took off like wildfire! Within a mere 24 hours, it garnered a staggering 200,000 views and catapulted my channel into the spotlight. Not only that, but I also gained a whopping 4,000 subscribers in that exhilarating span of time.
Initially, I didn’t consider YouTube as an income source; it was merely an outlet for my passion. I continued creating content, pouring my heart into each video. However, life had other plans—I found myself engrossed in managing my websites, and vlogging took a backseat.
But fate intervened. Comments flooded in, praising my storytelling style and urging me to produce more videos. The audience hungered for more glimpses into my world. So, I dusted off my camera, hit the record button, and resumed sharing my experiences.
Interestingly, I held off on monetizing my channel until I reached a significant milestone: 100,000 subscribers. It wasn’t about the money; it was about connecting with people, sharing stories, and leaving a digital footprint.
And that, my friends, is how my journey as a content creator began—a serendipitous car-washing session that transformed into a thriving YouTube adventure
3. Is vlogging and YouTube content creation a financially sustainable career?
Yes, YouTube content creation and vlogging can be financially sustainable careers. Many vloggers earn substantial incomes, sometimes in the lakhs, and work full-time on their YouTube channels. However, it's essential to have a backup plan. While YouTube can provide a significant source of income, it's not without risks. For instance, a channel could get deleted unexpectedly, jeopardizing one's sole source of livelihood. Therefore, it's prudent not to solely rely on YouTube and to diversify income streams or maintain education and employment opportunities.
Furthermore, the influence of YouTube on young individuals is notable. Some may be tempted to prioritize vlogging over education or other career paths, which may not always be advisable. It's crucial to strike a balance and pursue education and other career options alongside YouTube content creation. This ensures a more stable and well-rounded approach to one's future.
4. Who is your favorite creator and why?
Certainly, my favorite content creators are those who provide valuable insights into various ways of earning money online and share different techniques for success on platforms like YouTube. Due to time constraints, I don't watch YouTube extensively. However, when I have spare moments, I enjoy learning about innovative strategies for generating income online. I believe that life is a continuous journey of learning, and staying updated with new skills and knowledge is essential for personal and professional growth.
In addition to exploring online earning opportunities, I also find watching new car reviews to be an enjoyable pastime when I need a break from work or want to relax. Overall, my favorite creators are those who inspire me to expand my skill set and knowledge base while providing informative and engaging content in areas such as online entrepreneurship and automotive reviews.
5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?
Certainly, finding inspiration for content creation is essential for maintaining a consistent and engaging presence. As one of the pioneering video creators on YouTube, particularly in the realm of unveiling new car leaks, I've inadvertently become a source of inspiration for many smaller creators in the automotive niche. By sharing insights into features, designs, and other aspects of upcoming cars, I've sparked interest and creativity within the community.
Regarding the sources of my content, I must maintain confidentiality to protect the integrity of my work. However, I can share that I have a network of sources, including followers who provide leaked videos of upcoming cars, contributing to the originality and exclusivity of my content. Additionally, I draw inspiration from various automotive sites, where I gather ideas that I then adapt and transform into engaging video content.
Ultimately, maintaining a balance between originality, confidentiality, and creativity is paramount in continually churning out compelling content in the automotive niche.
6. What does your typical day look like?
My typical day varies between hectic and enjoyable moments. As someone who manages multiple websites, my day revolves around overseeing content creation. I guide writers, assign topics, and meticulously proofread before publishing. Cooking lunch is a cherished break, as I have a passion for culinary arts. Following this, I prioritize fitness with a gym session to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Returning, I focus on shooting and editing videos for my YouTube channel, ensuring they're ready for the scheduled 8 PM release. Then, I indulge in a solitary drive, finding solace in the therapeutic combination of driving and music. Upon returning, I prepare dinner, preferring homemade meals for their authenticity and taste.
Finally, before retiring for the night, I delve into research, exploring keywords, articles, and video topics to fuel future content creation endeavors.
7. Which is your favorite book and why?
Rich Dad Poor Dad, written by Robert Kiyosaki, resonates with me deeply due to its transformative insights into financial education and mindset. The book contrasts the differing perspectives of the author's "rich dad" and "poor dad," offering invaluable lessons on wealth accumulation, investment, and entrepreneurship.
Kiyosaki's narrative not only challenges conventional beliefs about money but also inspires readers to adopt a proactive approach toward achieving financial independence and success. Its practical wisdom has empowered countless individuals, including myself, to rethink their relationship with money and pursue wealth-building strategies that align with their goals and values.
8. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring creators?
My advice to future and aspiring creators is to approach platforms like YouTube with a realistic mindset and a clear plan. While YouTube offers significant financial potential, it's crucial not to be swayed solely by the glamorous lifestyles portrayed by some creators. Instead, focus on your passion for creating content and ensure you have a backup plan in place.
Completing your studies and acquiring additional skills can provide a safety net, allowing you to pursue your creative endeavors with confidence. Remember, success on YouTube often takes time and dedication, so prioritize creating content because you love it, not just for the sake of earning money. By staying true to your passion and being prepared for the challenges ahead, you can navigate the world of online content creation more effectively and sustainably.
