Jatin Pratap - Teamwork Is the Key (Instagram Influencer With 1.4 Million Followers)

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Born in New Delhi, I finished my schooling at New Delhi Public School Vikas Puri. I opted for Biology and did my +1 And +2 from the medical stream. As a sports enthusiast, when I was in 5th standard I was engaged in Tae-Known-Do and took a gold medal in the State championship and also took medals in badminton and played National championships in the small age and secured positions. 

I am a lifestyle and fashion blogger and a hardcore sportsman. I am a Badminton National Champion, Taekwondo State Champion, and OffSide Volleyball Smasher. 

I also posted videos on all social media platforms. When I started blogging, I did not seek any help or advice from professional bloggers. Instead, I trusted my talent and had lots of passion for making a mark on the web world with my content. My journey has been full of challenges too. Nevertheless, I faced them and have become one of the shining stars of the industry.

2. What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?

I would say my belief in myself led me to start my page on Instagram. When I started my journey I didn't even know that I would achieve that much height in this industry but my passion and interest led me to be here. When I made the video for the first time I fell in love with the work and decided to continue this work. Slowly and gradually this became my passion. 

But the family pressure and other things made me see some negative aspects of it, like when my friends were doing jobs in a big company and earning a good amount but still, I did not leave the industry. The day when my video got viral was the turning point for me and I tried to make a video with different types of content as well and then slowly and gradually got the fame.

3. How would you describe yourself as an actor and a model?

The 3 best adjectives for me as an actor would be exemplary, creative, and enthusiastic. As a model, I would describe myself as charming, attentive, and hard-working. 

4. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content for your blogs?

I got inspiration from my parents only. As a creative person, I always love to try something new and while trying something new I get ideas for blog content.

5. Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

Yes, it's financially sustainable to be an influencer. But I never started my career in this line because of money. My passion made me financially sustainable as others love to see me and hear me. 

6. As a sportsperson, what advice would you like to give to sports enthusiasts? 

Firstly, believe in yourself. Confidence is the prerequisite of all. Unless a player is confident, he/she/they will have a hard time achieving their goals. Sports enthusiasts need to be confident before stepping on the field. Learn from one's and others' experiences and move forward with a strong determination and desire. Also, enjoy the game.

Teamwork is the key, so I would always advise to give respect to everyone whether it's your competitor or your teammate. Moreover, always be curious to learn from the experiences of others. 

7. How, according to you, can someone become a successful social media influencer?

Before you start on your path to becoming an influencer, you need to first select your niche. You need to choose a niche that you are interested in and can consistently create content about. You should also have some level of expertise in the field to be able to establish yourself as an influencer. As an influencer, you will have to research and post content in your chosen interest area. 

So, it is important to choose something you’re passionate about and will enjoy spending your time on. Whether you love cooking and trying new recipes or are interested in DIY crafts, you need to find your calling. You could also select a combination of 2-3 interests but don’t make it too broad. Optimize your social media profiles and before you start creating content and posting on social media, you need to understand your target audience.

Influencers have sway over their audiences and strong connections with them. That’s due to the fact that they don’t cater to everyone, but only those with similar interests in the same niche. To become an influencer, it is important that you know who you’re targeting and then do it well to build a loyal follower base. To understand your audience, you can first start by analyzing your current follower base to get insights into their demographics and interests. 

Most social media platforms have a built-in analytics tool that provides such insights about your current audience. Twitter Analytics, for example, provides insights into your current followers’ interests, genders, locations, etc. Once you know what your audience likes, you’ll be ready to deliver it to them. Always be regular and consistent with your work to improve yourself. 

8. How do you overcome challenges and recover from setbacks?

Be positive. Always admit when you need help. There are times when you will need to ask for help. Look at the challenge from all sides and know when to delegate and always set small goals, today I will create this kind of reel or video based on XYZ topic.

9. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

My key to success mantra is - Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.

10. Which is your favorite book/show and why? 

MTV Roadies is my favourite show because it gives me a never ending confidence and always boosts my confidence to keep trying till the end.
