Siwet Tomar – I Have Three Tattoos, Two of Which Are Deeply Spiritual (Reality TV Star & MTV Roadies Insider, 489K+ Followers)

"The biggest lesson I learned from reality TV? Always put yourself first—because no one else will."

1. From modeling to reality TV—quite a diverse journey. How would you describe your evolution so far?

I wouldn't exactly call it an evolution. For me, it’s more about embracing what life offers—enjoying it fully and giving my best, so when it all ends, I have no regrets. That’s the only thing I consciously strive for. What has truly changed in me is my mindset. Earlier, I used to stress a lot about the future—what’s going to happen, how things will unfold. But now, I live in the present. I’ve become fearless. I focus on enjoying the moment and having fun with whatever I’m doing. The rest, I trust, will be taken care of by the universe.

2. MTV Roadies and Splitsvilla brought you into the spotlight. What’s the biggest lesson you took away from those experiences?

These shows definitely gave me visibility. But the biggest lesson I learned was this—always prioritize yourself. Earlier, I would put others, especially friends, above myself. But these shows taught me that people will always put themselves first, and it’s better to accept that reality early on. Also, another hard truth: not everyone you see on camera is being their true self. Most people perform or fake it for the camera because everyone wants to look good. I was probably the only one who didn’t care how I came across—I just kept it real.

3. You started as Mr. Dehradun and went on to walk the ramp for fashion events. What initially drew you to modeling?

Funny enough, I never dreamed of becoming a model. It wasn’t even on my radar. One day, a friend of mine who was organizing the Mr. Dehradun pageant told me I should enter. He said I had the looks and the presence for it. That’s where it all began. I started preparing, and gradually I developed an interest and confidence in this space. After that, I also competed in Mr. North India and ended up as the runner-up. Then I met Mr. Kapil Gori, a fashion director who pushed me further and opened doors to more events. Things were going well—until COVID hit and everything shut down. That’s when I transitioned to reality TV.

4. Fitness clearly plays a big role in your life. What’s your go-to workout or fitness philosophy?

Fitness is definitely a huge part of my lifestyle. I can’t pinpoint just one workout routine that defines me, but there’s a personal motto I live by: “I work out to eat, I don’t eat to work out.” That’s my balance. I love good food—even the unhealthy stuff—and I work out so I can enjoy it guilt-free while staying healthy. For me, that’s the sweet spot between discipline and indulgence.

5. You’ve now taken on a new role as the Insider for MTV Roadies: Double Cross. How does it feel to be on the other side of the show?

Honestly, it feels like a full-circle moment. When I was a contestant on Roadies, I used to see Hamid as the Insider and wonder what it must feel like to be on that side. Now I know—it feels like a promotion. People call you “sir,” you hold a position of power, and the best part? You know the truth behind the scenes. When someone’s putting on a face for the camera, you can see right through it because you already know the backstory. It’s true what they say: every story has three versions—yours, theirs, and the actual truth. As the Insider, you get to witness the real story unfold.

6. Your tattoos suggest a deep spiritual side. How does spirituality influence your approach to life and career?

I have three tattoos, and two of them are deeply spiritual. The first is a Sanskrit mantra:
"शिवेति मंत्रमुच्चरन्कदा सुखी भवाम्यहम्"
It translates to: “Chanting the name of Shiva brings true happiness.”
The second tattoo is of an Aghori meditating with the Earth in the background, and from his third eye emerges Shiva himself. For me, this represents a core belief: the only eternal truth in this world is Shiva. Everything else is temporary and materialistic. While the world offers short-lived happiness, real peace and joy come from devotion, meditation, and connecting with the divine. That’s how I live my life—grounded in that belief.

7. What’s one misconception people have about you that you’d like to clear up?

One major misconception is that I don’t respect women—or that I’m a misogynist. That’s not true. I absolutely believe in equality. I just don’t believe in respecting someone only because of their gender. Respect should be earned based on who you are as a human being, not because you're a man or a woman. I don’t support pseudo-feminism. I stand for equal respect, equal expectations, and equal responsibility—for everyone.

8. If you could swap lives with any character from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah or star in a Bollywood film, who would you play and why?

From Taarak Mehta, definitely Jethalal. I feel like I relate to him on many levels. He’s a family man, respects his elders, and somehow manages to stay strong even when everything is going wrong. In Bollywood, I’d love to play either a comedic role or a villain. That pretty much sums up my personality—I’m either super jolly or extremely intense. There’s no in-between!
