“If I’m ‘too much,’ they can go find less. I’m ever-changing and always evolving.”
Q. Sakshi, your name itself carries such powerful symbolism. How has the meaning of “witness of truth” influenced your identity as an artist and a person?
Witness to the universe, baby!
I find myself writing and singing about things I wouldn’t admit to myself. The subconscious mind always fights to be heard, and the thoughts I keep behind a lock and key in my mind are bound to come out sooner or later. Stepping into my authenticity I’m learning more about myself everyday.
Q. You’ve described your world as where empowerment meets music. What role does music play in your personal empowerment journey, and what message do you hope it sends to your listeners?
Music is my freedom. It’s my way of decorating the different phases of my life and it's fun for my soul. I started producing a little recently and to have total control of every idea, every sound, it's powerful.
I want to empower women to embrace their sexy selves, for everyone to feel seen and unafraid to own their story because I feel most alive at a concert, I wanna create that feeling in others.
Q. Your visuals and performances often break conventional molds. Have you ever faced resistance for being different, and how have you responded to that?
If I’m “too much,” they can go find less.
I’m ever-changing and always evolving. Today, I feel soft and feminine; tomorrow, I wanna drop it down to heavy bass and headbang. Every day is new—my ideas and creativity are flowing and fluid. Resistance It fuels me.
Q. Who are some musical or cultural icons that have inspired your sound and your message of individuality?
I take a lot of inspiration from old Bollywood movie tracks. The melodies, and the flow are ethereal.
Q. Your track Not My Fault feels like a bold, emotional anthem. What was the inspiration behind it, and what core message do you hope listeners take away from the song?
Not My Fault is a groovy R&B track. The lyrics revolve around having a sneaky link and not wanting anyone to know because in today's age it's cool to hide your feelings, blame it on the drink. Too cool to care type shit haha.
Q. If you had to describe your music in three words that define both your sound and your soul, what would they be—and why?
One of my favorite quotes is: “To define is to limit.”
In this phase of my life I make:(in 3 words) - Shake ass music.
I blend Indian elements with pop and R&B to make you shake ass.
Q. You’re not just a singer-songwriter but also an advocate for embracing authenticity. What advice would you give to young individuals struggling to accept themselves in a judgmental world?

Q. You’re not just a singer-songwriter but also an advocate for embracing authenticity. What advice would you give to young individuals struggling to accept themselves in a judgmental world?
I’ve been my own worst critic. If I didn’t like something, I changed it because that's what was authentic to me. So you do you.
Honestly, truly and completely.
Don't let anyone tell you how to live, if you know with every cell in your body what your soul needs. It's all just chemicals in our brain that we try to make meaning of in a society that we made up; so screw it.
Do what makes you happy (as long as you aren't hurting anyone) because whatever this life is, it's too short.
