Ekaterina Danilova Interview
"The most important thing is that this project resonates with me! I like the role and the script, and then only intuition and luck will show what to choose!"
Q. You’ve brought such depth to roles in Spring Is Late, Roses and Thorns, Singles, and Two on the Edge. When you look back, which of these characters has stayed with you the longest — and why?
Hello! It’s very nice that my roles and characters in all the series are different and interesting! Each story leaves a mark on my heart, and I can’t single out any one of them! Every series or movie is a separate part of my life! They are all special to me!Q. Every actor has that spark that drew them to the craft. For you, what was the defining moment when you realized, “This is what I want to do with my life”?
Since childhood, I have been engaged in creative activities! I sang a lot and still sing and record tracks, traveled to many cities, and participated in many competitions. I have many awards and certificates.I recorded tracks for musicals and worked as a host on a music channel! And one day, I simply enrolled in GITIS, where I could combine everything! Singing, deeply exploring my acting talent, and dancing various styles of dance! I became the lead in the graduation play "West Side Story" (Romeo and Juliet).
I realized that I enjoyed doing this and was good at it, and that’s how I ended up on the big screens!
Q. Film and television each demand something different from an actor. Do you enjoy the intensity of shorter film projects more, or the long emotional journeys that TV roles often provide?
The most important thing is that this project resonates with me! I like the role and the script, and then only intuition and luck will show what to choose!Q. Some of your characters navigate very raw emotions. Is there a ritual or mindset you rely on to enter — and then safely step out of — those heavy emotional spaces?
Emotional scenes are like a separate kind of experience! I don’t use any special techniques; I try to live through it as I feel — how this particular character would act according to the script — so it all feels like one whole! These scenes take a lot more energy and strength, but you prepare and tune yourself for them in advance! Coming out of them is simply letting go.Q. If you could play any role — real or imagined, past or future — what would your dream role look like, and why does it excite you?
I would like to act in movies where the heroine is strong, brave, knows how to handle weapons, run, jump, fight, brawl, and drive a car! Probably an action or thriller film!I want to take part in 60s-70s movies (historical ones) with incredibly beautiful costumes, where the style and manners are amazing — a different era!
War movies are interesting, too! And, of course, comedies.
I love humor and laughter! It’s an inseparable part of my life! I enjoy giving people positivity, joking, and teasing!
