Bhumir Raval: If I Have An Idea, I'm Filming It Ten Minutes Later (New York, 233K Followers)

No big production team, no over-polishing- just pure, unfiltered connection

Q. How did your journey as a digital creator begin, and when did you realize this could be more than a hobby?

Honestly, there was no "journey" or big strategic plan. It started with a random thought and boredom. I shot a one-shot reel on a whim-no script, no setup-and just posted it.

I realized this was real when the numbers started moving without me trying to market myself. Hitting 212,000 followers recently wasn't the result of a marketing budget; it was proof that my random thoughts actually resonated with people. It wasn't about a dream; it was about realizing that being "just me" was enough.

Q. "Your Parents Found Me First" became your identity-what does this line truly represent about your content and audience?

It represents the fact that my content is "living room safe." In a world of edgy, fast-paced trends, I'm making content that a Gujarati mom sends to her son, or a dad laughs at over tea.

Most creators chase the youth hoping they'll influence the parents. I did the opposite. I captured the culture first. If the parents approve, the longevity is there. It means I'm not a trend; I'm part of the household.

Q. How has your Gujarati background shaped your humor, storytelling, and connection with people?

It isn't just a "background"-it's the entire source material. Gujarati culture is full of specific quirks-the way we argue, the way we save money, the way we show affection through food.

My humor works because I don't try to explain these things to outsiders; I amplify them for insiders. The connection comes from the specificity. When I make a joke about a specific Gujarati habit, the audience feels seen instantly because they live it every day.

Q. What is your creative process like-from idea to posting a reel?

It's fast and it's solo. I don't have a team. I don't have a scriptwriter. I am the writer, director, actor, and editor. I shoot everything on my iPhone 16 Pro Max. I don't use big cameras or complex setups because they slow me down. If I have an idea, I'm filming it ten minutes later. I edit it myself immediately and hit upload. Speed is my process. If I overthink it, I lose the raw energy that makes it funny.

Q. What were the biggest challenges you faced while growing your platform, and what helped you push through them?

To be honest, I don't look at it as a challenge. I am representing Indian culture and Gujarati life, and that is just who I am. There is no "struggle" in being yourself.

I enjoy every part of this. Whether it's a skit about family or a reel about technology, it comes naturally to me. I didn't have to "push through" anything because I was having fun the whole time. The growth happened because the audience could feel that enjoyment. If it felt like work, I wouldn't be doing it.

Q. What advice would you give to aspiring creators who want to start but are held back by fear, family pressure, or self-doubt?

Stop treating it like a huge career move and just treat it like a random thought. That's how I started-no script, no big plan.

If you are scared, it's because you are trying to be perfect. You don't need a perfect setup; I film, direct, and edit everything myself on my phone. My advice? Don't force it. If you enjoy the process, the fear disappears. Just hit record and see what happens.

Q. Now that you've achieved so much, what drives you next? Are there any projects, ideas, or directions you're excited to explore?

Reaching 212,000 followers is just the proof of concept. The next phase is about depth. Instagram Reels gave me the reach, but now I'm moving toward long-form content on YouTube.

You can get views in 60 seconds, but you can't build a real relationship. I want to build a cult, not just a following. A community that actually listens and engages. I'm taking the same raw, "shoot-it-yourself" energy-still just me and my iPhone-and applying it to longer formats. No big production team, no over-polishing. Just pure, unfiltered connection.
