Nehaa Bhatt Interview
Q. To begin, could you tell us about yourself and the journey that led you to where you are today?
My name is Nehaa Bhatt, and I am an amputee traveler and content creator from Gujarat. My life changed completely after I met with a serious accident in 2021, which resulted in the loss of my leg. The journey after the accident was far from easy. I had to learn how to walk again with a prosthetic leg and, more importantly, rebuild my confidence and independence from scratch. I gradually started traveling, initially with very limited resources. My first major spiritual pilgrimage was to Ujjain, and later I traveled to challenging high-altitude sacred sites like Kedarnath, Kashi Vishwanath, and Amarnath. What started as a personal path to healing slowly evolved into a message for others: a physical limitation does not have to become a limitation on your dreams. Today, I travel with my prosthetic leg, create content around my experiences, and aim to show people that life after amputation can still be full of adventure, spirituality, and endless possibilities.
Q. What does being a Brand Ambassador for Össur India mean to you, and how has it shaped your journey?
Being associated with Össur India as a Brand Ambassador is extremely meaningful to me because prosthetics are not just a part of my story, they are an integral part of how I live my life today. My prosthetic leg has given me the confidence to walk, travel, and take on challenges that once seemed impossible. Through this association, I hope to help people view prosthetic technology in a new light. A prosthesis is not simply a medical device; with the right support, alignment, training, and mindset, it becomes a powerful tool that helps a person regain independence and pursue their goals. I also feel a deep responsibility to represent the amputee community with honesty, showing both the real challenges and the inspiring possibilities.
Q. Your journey from Kedarnath to Amarnath shows a strong spirit of adventure. What draws you towards challenging destinations?
My faith in Mahadev, my passion for travel, and the innate desire to challenge myself. Traversing Kedarnath and Amarnath taught me that every difficult journey carries a valuable lesson. I do not travel to prove that I am stronger than others; I travel to discover what I am truly capable of achieving.
Q. What have these mountain journeys taught you about yourself that everyday life could not?
The mountains taught me patience and self-belief. You cannot rush a mountain. You take one step, rest when needed, and then continue. They taught me that progress doesn't have to be fast, it simply must keep moving forward.
Q. Every trek comes with physical and mental challenges. How do you prepare yourself before taking on a demanding journey?
I prepare both physically and mentally. On the physical side, I focus closely on my prosthetic alignment, footwear, walking practice, stamina, and studying the route. Mentally, I prepare myself to adapt because travel rarely goes entirely according to plan. While I love to challenge myself, I always respect my body and its limits.
Q. What role does discipline play in achieving goals that initially seem difficult or even impossible?
Discipline turns a dream into a destination. Motivation may come and go, but discipline is what makes you take the next step even on the most difficult days. I have learned not to get overwhelmed by the entire journey, but rather to focus on taking it just one step at a time.
Q. You have been featured by platforms like Her Circle and People of India. What does recognition mean to you personally?
I am deeply grateful because recognition gives my story a much larger platform to reach people. But beyond personal recognition, my ultimate goal is for people to see that an amputee is never defined by their disability. If someone reads my story and finds the courage to dream again, that means far more to me than any feature or headline.
Q. How do you hope your story and adventures inspire people who may be dealing with their own challenges?
I don't want to sugarcoat things or tell people that their struggles are easy. I simply want them to know that one difficult chapter doesn't have to become your whole story. After my accident, I had to rebuild my life from the ground up. Today, I travel the world with a prosthetic leg. My hope is that people choose possibility over limitation and courage over fear.
Q. Your goal is EBC in 2027. What motivates you to keep setting bigger challenges for yourself?
Everest Base Camp is my next big dream because I want to discover just how far I can go. Journeying to Kedarnath and Amarnath proved to me that I can push my boundaries in the mountains, and EBC is the natural next step. I don't want to prove that I am extraordinary; I simply want to keep moving forward, one step at a time, with unwavering faith in Mahadev. My circumstances changed my path, but they did not decide my destination.
