1. Tell us something about yourself.

I am a founder of an online community which is helping about 32,800 people who have a skin disease (esp. dyshidrosis). I wrote a book about it and gave talks. I have travelled to many countries and shared my experiences. Currently, I am preparing my YOUTUBE channel to share my story. My channel deals not only with skin diseases but also with a positive and healthy life.

2. How was the phase when you were deceased with dyshidrosis?

It was a long and tough journey. In the beginning, I hated it and wanted to get rid of it. I went so far to cut my finger with a knife. I was depressed and had an anthropophobia. I even wanted to end my life. People are suffering not only from physical pain but also from these mental challenges.

3. Your journey of getting over the illness?

One day, I realized that my sick skin is nevertheless still me and a part of my body. This realization even made me cry. It took around 17 years to accept this. So how could I describe my journey within a few sentences? But I can tell you that I found a way to love and heal myself. For more details, you can check out my upcoming (English) videos if you like.

4. Tell us about your blog.

After I overcame my disease, I posted my story online. Surprisingly, many people commented and wanted to get more information. Before, when I was sick, the doctors said: ‘it is a rare case, and nobody overcame it’. At that time, I felt lonely and anxious. I did not want other people to feel as lonely as I did. That was the reason why I created my community. People can share experiences and advice together and help each other, and nobody is left alone. The power of the community is to share and to support. People are willing to help each other. For that, I am so proud of my community.

5. How was your experience speaking at various platforms?

We are living in a highly technical world. Most of us have a smartphone. People can easily get and share information. I could make a lot of connections via various platforms. Especially, human connections are important. Obviously, not all people everywhere are always trying to help, so there have also been difficulties. But if we use technology and connections wisely, it can truly empower us.

6. What is needed to tackle this kind of disease?

I would say there are three most important things: first, a positive mindset, second, self-compassion, third, self-trust. Of course, a healthy diet and lifestyle (for example yoga, meditation, etc.) are also important. But many people forget that a healthy life must be based on a good mindset and a good attitude towards oneself. To conclude, I would like to say, love you, believe in yourself and live with a positive mind. This is my whole secret.
