1. Tell us more about yourself and your profession.

Hello, I am Kirti Thakur. I am a Navy Brat from Himachal Pradesh. Currently, I'm residing in UAE along with my husband.

I am an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Nutrition Specialist and an aspiring fitness model. I provide personal coaching online under my own brand Kasrat India. Also, I have recently co-written an e-guide on Fat Loss.

2. What is your fitness mantra?

"You get what you work for".
I truly believe that I'm the driver of my own life and so can everyone else be.

3. What are some of the major misconceptions about diets and exercises?

Some major misconceptions are:
  • A person needs to quit on their favorite food items completely, that's as far as from the truth as it can get.
  • Carbs are bad... No, they are not, and in fact, carbs are necessary for better energy levels and bodily functions.
  • You need to skip dinner to reduce fat.. I believe you need to reduce the portion sizes in all the meals, but not skip a meal itself.
  • People need to train 6-7 days a week to get results.. that's not true, and you can start anywhere from 2-4 days of resistance training n cardio and you'll get good results for sure.
  • You need to do a lot of cardio to reduce fat... That's again a big No! Because your body will never be able to expedite it's metabolism if you don't train your muscles.

4. How can one maintain a healthy lifestyle?

I guess one can maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating in moderation, getting enough of physical training, and having ample sleep. These are the three basic things to lead a healthy lifestyle.

5. How can one build a successful career in your field?

Persistence...
Nothing else, just as in any other industry...
Work hard, give it your all, do what it takes, and be patient. That's the key!

6. What is one piece of advice, you would like to give someone who wishes to lose weight?

Talk to an expert, check their credibility and if all is good, follow that person till the end and invest money in yourself by taking personalized coaching... One of the biggest mistakes that people do nowadays is that they try to do too much, try to follow too many people and look up too much information on the internet. Don't try to find shortcuts and follow just one good mindset!

7. How do diets and exercise contribute to overall well being and happiness?

Well physically, good nutrition and training, boost your happy hormones and energy levels, and emotionally, it boosts your confidence as it gives you a better body image. And that's not all, it helps you to stay away from many diseases and medical conditions as well.
