Apart from glorifying Kiori Mal College as Mr Bachan’s college, I have added ample memories & experiences as when I’m caused to recount my college life. Started off as electing & wining the college elections & being a part of Students Union, Kirori Mal College has been a holistic ride. From being a member of various cultural & non-cultural societies of college to Founding a society & starting women empowering club, it's been a long, accomplishing journey so far.
As the Founding President of Eneur, The Entrepreneurship Cell of KMC, I had a major role to play in organising the society from scratch with a vision to achieve and to leave a legacy behind which would be remembered in the future. I still remember, in my very first year of college, with the prevailing entrepreneurship culture & various activities taking place in different colleges on entrepreneurship which would motivate the budding entrepreneurs to put their ideas forward without an inch of hesitation leading to a safe platform for their ideas in its embryonic stage. The very moment, I decided to have such a platform in my college with the mission of accomplishing the vision of budding entrepreneurs to become job providers rather job seekers. I founded Entrepreneurship Cell KMC in my third year with constant support & motivation of Mr Pushpendar Sir. With an enthusiastic team, we flagged off our session & were able to leave a mark in our very first year. I see this platform as an indispensable invaluable asset to any young entrepreneur who wants to build his own venture.
2. How can we encourage more young students such as yourself to take up leadership role?
Leadership is something which is not acquired but inherited. I believe everyone has a hidden leader within themselves, they just have to uplift the Steve Jobs within them. Young students should come out of their comfort zones & explore various opportunities which lie ahead of them.
Yes, you might fail once, twice or even thrice but once you achieve the purpose you've been living for, you'll just reminisce the journey throughout instead of the achievement. The journey is important & so are the failures that you've seen which define your true existence. Everyone is a leader in themselves, we just have to take that one step forward which awakens the fire within us & empowers our leadership skills. Be the boss of your life & career & strive with passion to achieve your deadlines.
3. What have been your biggest challenges and learning from what you do?
Failures have deteriorated my emotional stature time and again. But what kept me going was the vision in my head of achieving the goals I had planned. As the founder of the society, I knew how difficult it would be to keep up with the pace & still manage to take the team together as one family. Often things don't turn out the way you want them to be & this breaks you down. All you need to do is keep your calm & remember, hardships in short-run makes you a champion in the long run if you don't give up. Failure doesn't define your identity but it moulds you as a more evolved and strong person.
Fail, have a bowl of chocolate chip ice-cream & get back to work with refreshed mind & zeal.
4. What are your career goals and how is what you are doing is going to help you with that?
I don't want to be known for the money I've earned, but for the mark, I leave & goodwill I earn. I see myself as a motivated socio - entrepreneur putting my enterprising skills & extensive knowledge in the right proportion with a transparent vision to bring a change in the society, I wish to see. With a knack of continual growth in my work field, I wish to bring forth the theoretical knowledge into existence. I want to bring a change in patriarchal society towards women. Therefore, I've laid the foundation to this propagation by initiating a GirlUp Club in Delhi University which will help me in future achieving the motive I've framed.
Girlup Urja is an initiative which falls under Girlup campaign which is affiliated with the United Nations Foundation. Girl Up campaign is working toward a world where girls have equal value, access, and opportunities to reach their fullest potential.Girlup Urja majorly mulls over every type of harassment & mental health awareness. People dealing with harassment or mental breakdown aren't vocal about it. Here, we're to break the glass ceiling. If I could advocate even an individual, our motive gets consummated. A rage against inequality, injustice, infringement & invasion.
Always take that very first step, towards something which you find inappropriate conscientiously, that you want someone else to take to bring the change.
5. What's your message to encourage students to do internships and attend conferences?
Internships & conferences pave your way towards your destined goal & carve a niche for yourself. I've interned in a Startup, Government Organisation & Corporate firm. My inclination towards the corporate sector always motivated me to work closely with the various organisation which led to polishing my skills & discover my potential. I've evolved as a malleable personality who has flaws but is determined to use them as arms to fight the brickbats coming in my way. Also, this exposure teaches you the importance of work ethics, professionalism & provides a sense of responsibility, I'll highly recommend students to take up the opportunities, as time once gone never comes back & you can surely earn extra pocket money too.
