1. Tell us more about your experience as an educator.

As an educator I could see a paradigm shift in the teaching learning process over the years. I have started my career in an Institution located in a rural area in Tamilnadu where I have seen the students really struggled to cope up with syllabus and exam pattern of the university in their first years. Later on the students managed to pass the examinations with the flying colours. Initially the students expect a moral support and a mentor like approach towards the teaching and handling them.

But in the case of Institutions located in urban areas the confidence level of the students found to be better than their counterparts from the rural areas.

2. What is your opinion of the Indian education system and how would you like to change that?

The current education system in India is more focused on the memory power of the students and not testing the knowledge gained by the students.

The education system should be more focused on acquiring knowledge through more practical learning with hands on training in key areas. Also the education set up should be framed where the participation of the students at each level should be encouraged and the education policies should make the students to involve themselves in spirited ways.

3. What changes in the teaching methodologies have you seen in the recent times?

Really the teaching methodologies changed a lot in recent times where virtual learning occupies the prime position and also the teaching process is assisted by technology driven tools.

4. How does education help one do well in their career?

Education is the prime factor that makes a person a personality and also provides confidence, problem solving skills, IQ, and EQ to handle the situation in his or her career when the situation is really challenging.

5. Do you think teaching as a profession is viewed at par with corporate jobs?

Yes. In recent times the teaching profession is viewed at par with any corporate jobs. In teaching profession also the contribution of the teaching faculty can be assessed by many quantitative deliverables. The accountability of the teachers measured by key performance indicators.

6. How can we adopt technology to make teaching more effective?

By adopting technology the teaching can be made more effective and participatory in the technology driven society. By using the technology the teaching learning process will reach another milestone provided the student’s community is in a right mindset to accept the changes.

7. Why does India need more educators like you?

Education should be viewed as a developing tool for the mankind for that in addition to the available teaching processes the learner’s community should be given a freedom to express their views in all the aspects of teaching and learning. If any faculty member facilitate the student community for their enhancement in all aspects are the need of the hour. I am one of the teachers belonging to that type of faculty.
