1.   Tell us about your background and journey.

I started my professional journey as a software developer after completion of Engineering (B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from AMU, Aligarh) degree. Later, moved into the field of Human Resources Management post doing Global MBA from cities of Singapore & Dubai (Global MBA from SP Jain School of Global Management, Singapore & Dubai). International exposure in working on projects with the organizations gave me insights into a global business and people's practices. Currently, settled in Bangalore, India, and working as HR Manager in an IT Services organization.

2. What is your opinion about remote working?

This is the future workforce model which changes the workspace horizon. More people will be opting for remote working and have resulted in increased utilization/workforce productivity.

3. How do you keep your employees and team engaged? What are some of the shifts in engagement strategies?

Engagement practices have moved from in-person group programs to everything virtual. Constant connections and skills up programs online are helping the employees in a dynamic business environment.

4. How important is skill development for employees and how do you do that?

Skill development is very important to survive the game as the business landscape is changing and upskilling is the key mantra to sail through. Enabling learning and certification programs internally or through partners will shorten the demand and supply skill gap.

5. How according to you has HR as a profession evolved over the years?

HR has evolved from running processes/operations to key decision enablers for the business. HR now is part of all strategic meets because any strategy will be successful if people are part of it and they are taken care of from a learning or business need perspective.

6. What are some of the qualities you look for in a person when hiring for leadership?

As a leader, stewardship and being responsible are two very important competencies to be developed. You can be a successful leader if you are able to build trust with your team and able to take them along on the journey of success.

7. Which is your favorite book and why?

"The Why of Work" by Dave Ulrich. It is close to my heart as it links and builds relationships with all variable parameters within the organization and explain the real meaning of work.
