1. First-Hand Care
When you are the eldest, our parents are just new to the parenthood world. They give all the care they can, to their first ones. This same is not received by the younger sibling because now they are well-trained on how to deal with their kid.
It's just like when you try to make something for the first time you take the utmost care doing it but when you know how to do it, you just go with the flow.
2. Pamper Parade
For you, the pamper parade is so long. Every single family member pampers you because you are the firstborn. You are like a new discovery. You get so much pampering from all the sides and you don’t have to share it with anyone. That royal feeling is only experienced by the first ones.
3. No Hand-Me-Downs
Everything is new. The dresses, the shoes even the crib is new. You don’t have to face much of hand me downs because you are the beginning of a new generation. There is some kind of energy going on that reserves all the new things for you.
4. Boss Around the Young Ones
You get the permit to boss around your siblings. It’s like that hierarchy. A privilege, which cannot be shared, and it's yours alone. It’s fun to boss around those younger siblings and gives a feel-good factor even if it eventually turns us into couch potatoes.
5. More Consideration
Whenever something new is being discussed or considered, you are on the top of the list. Let it be cleaning, grocery shopping or even buying something new. You get the first preference over anyone even if its household chores which you are too lazy to do.
That’s when you put your ‘Boss around the young ones’ privilege into action.
6. More Responsibilities
6. More Responsibilities
Being the eldest, you get lots of responsibilities. They are like looking after your siblings, doing well with life because that’s what the young ones see and learn, etc.
But these responsibilities are what make us proud. Being seen as a role model because of our responsibilities is a special feeling in itself even if it becomes tiring every now and then.
7. Parents All to You
This one perk no one gets except the eldest one. You get parents all to yourselves. You don’t need to share them, at least a few years. Even though when your sibling comes and you have to share becomes difficult, but at least you know how it is to have them all to yourselves, unlike the other siblings.

8. Attention! Attention! Attention!
This is something that has both pros and cons. Of course, you get lots of attention and that makes you feel so good. But the same attention keeps on going even after your siblings come in most cases. Everything you do, you are going to be the center of attraction.
This becomes difficult when you are in the teen-phase. It’s an experimental and curious phase and at that time also when you get too much-unwanted attention you get cranky but in the end, you do realize that it was for your own good.
9. You Set the Bar High for Your Siblings
If you are an achiever, then you hear it a lot from your parents itself telling their young ones to look and learn. Again it’s a proud moment, but sometimes it’s too tiring because you can’t relax. You have to keep the bar high otherwise in many cases you get into fights with your parents. You have to be the best at all times and make the right decisions because you are setting the bar for your siblings.
But I also believe that a strict bar shouldn’t be sent.

Everyone needs to be able to explore and discover themselves. Going behind a bar is just making us like the crowd. Going on our own way and exploring ourselves is what makes us stand out. Even though it’s a proud thing for the elder ones, you all know the cons that come along with it.
Every role has its uniqueness and perks. Some are good for us but some perks need to change. But again, everyone’s point of view is different and it matters. At the end of the day, elder ones are not the only ones enjoying the perks, the younger ones have their own set of perks.
Last but not the least, even if you are elder or younger, always respect each other and love each other a lot because siblings are the only friends you can make who will never leave you.
