Creating Content Consistently That Holds the Audience's Interest Is the Toughest Part

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Hi, I'm Mayuri. I was born on 20th February 1994. I am from Chhattisgarh, India, I've lived in many cities, my father is in government services so we had to move to a different city every 3-5 year, that means my school changed a lot.

I was an average student in school & college, every time in a new city, school, or place, I used to experience this social anxiety with people around me, and every time I managed to be friendly with everyone and that was also one of the reasons, I selected social topic such as friendship and relationship for my YouTube channel.

I completed my post-graduation in the year 2017, I did M.A. in sociology from Pandit Ravishankar University. After completing my studies, I had no idea what job is suitable for me. At that time, I was a 22-year-old girl who didn't want to get married so soon and didn't know what she wanted in her life, but I wanted to be financially independent, which I became, after starting my YouTube channel.

2. When did you first decide that you wanted to create content and how did you start?

My elder sister was working from home as a freelance social media manager, she inspired me to do work from home. She asked me about my interests and skills, I have good speaking skills and emotional understanding so she suggested that I create content that can be relatable to the audience.

We decided to start creating content for YouTube in July 2018 and started working on these ideas in august 2018. When I started making videos I didn't think much about subscriber count and earnings. Obviously, I wanted to be successful in this field but I also wanted to learn new things.

3. Is YouTube content creation a financially sustainable career?

It can be! But it won't give you instant results or consistent income if you are starting your YouTube channel so if you're facing financial issues then it's not a good idea.

In normal jobs, people get paid every month (specific amounts) but on YouTube, our revenue depends on our views so the graph can be high sometimes and low other times, creating content consistently that holds the audience's interest is the toughest part of being a YouTube content creator.

You can make money by sponsored videos but no one will contact you for sponsorship if you are not doing good on your channel.

4. Who is your favourite creator and why?

Uhmm ...I don't have evergreen favourites; my current favourite creator is a 24-year - old girl I am following her for the past 2 years. She is a Korean YouTube vlogger "Stephenie soo". She makes mukbang videos and she also has her 2nd channel where she shows her real personality in her daily vlogs.

I really enjoy her activities and she is a hardworking girl. I wish I could work like her. She manages everything so smoothly; she inspires me to work harder. That's why I follow her. I love her happy & positive vibes.

5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?

In the beginning, I used to read articles about topics, I used to do a lot of research about content, I did this for almost a year but now I feel like if I'll convey those things which are already available on the internet then what's the point of making a fresh video?

So now I share my opinions and perspective. People do watch my videos and they share their experiences in the comment section, I do reply to their comments & this is how I get to know what they want to see next and I cover those topics.

6. What does your typical day look like?

I don't like going out every day for work and doing parties on weekends so my everyday looks the same as any normal introverted person's day.

I am a simple family-oriented girl. I wake up early in the morning or late in the afternoon, depending on my recording schedule a lot. I and di make our breakfast together mostly and It's my favourite hour in the day. Cooking and eating our breakfast, then I do my housework, I spend time watching memes on Instagram, I love sleeping so I take beauty sleep in the afternoon. I do have a daily skincare routine, I feel grateful to have this opportunity to live with my family ☺ I'm living with my parents and sister, they take care of me and I take care of them. Every day is a happy day.

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

To be honest, I don't like reading books, I don't know why it sounds boring! I prefer to read blogs and articles; it gives me more time and more knowledge to understand the thoughts & opinions of different people on different subjects. Before starting my YouTube channel, I used to read a lot but now I limit that to save my time and to focus on creating content for YouTube channels.

8. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring creators?

Never give up, keep learning, and always look forward to good advice or constructive criticism, you never know what piece of advice can change your graph. I still try to improve my content, every person's opinion matters to me, I don't get upset when someone tells me that I'm not doing good, I feel good at least they watched it and they gave me feedback. As we all have heard customer's feedback is important for business or products similarly viewer's feedback is important for creators.

Get feedback, improve yourself, get more feedback to get more improvements. Keep improving there is nothing like best or perfect, so just keep improving.
