As far as you are happy creating content, good at your content and getting a good audience, it definitely is a financially sustainable career but it takes a lot of time for some people to reach at that stage when they can finally call themselves independent, to get recognized no matter how much hard work they put in, so at that point you got to have some backups because this place is quite unpredictable. But once you’re out there, nothing can stop you from earning a good amount of money.
1. Tell us about your background and journeyMy name is Arushi Chib and I am 22 years old. I was born and brought up in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir. I did my schooling from Jammu itself and went to Delhi to complete my bachelors at Miranda House, Delhi University. Currently, I am pursuing my Masters in Botany from Jammu University.
I started my journey as a content creator during this lockdown and have been creating videos since May. I initially started with YouTube but then switched to Instagram due to my poor reach which actually helped me grow a lot. My family, friends and everybody out there has been quite supportive of what I am doing.

Sakshi Shivdasani is my favourite creator because she is the one, I relate to a lot. Her personality and the way she is dedicated towards her work inspires me a lot. I love how she deals with all the love and hate she gets and never stops what she loves doing, that is creating content.
I am actually not fond of reading but I am fond of science magazines and some informative stuff.
2. When did you first decide that you wanted to create content and how did you start?
I wanted to create content since I was in college but due to half-baked knowledge and lack of support at that time, I could not. But things were quite different during this entire lockdown since I was well equipped and had a lot of time to learn about video making.
I utilized my time and gathered support from my friends and family who gave me a great push. I started off by making skincare and fashion videos on YouTube but later experimented with a lot of things.

My main inspiration is my audience. I interact with them time to time so that I get to know what are their preferences and how they want me to present my videos which helps me a lot.

My mom is very creative when it comes to ideas, she tries to help me out a lot too. Besides that, my failures inspire me to do better each and every day.
6. What does your typical day look like?
My typical day starts with getting up at 10 a.m. and prepping up for my online classes which go on till 2 p.m.I prefer taking a short nap after my classes or gather inspiration for my content.

I go for my driving classes for an hour in the evening, come back home and make a video for my socials. I spend some time after that, go back to some revision and off to sleep. I try to stay away from my phone as much as possible, so I take up household chores or study some things apart from my subject.
7. Which is your favourite book and why?
I am actually not fond of reading but I am fond of science magazines and some informative stuff.
8. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring creators?
My piece of advice would be that if it gives you happiness, do not have second thoughts and just go for it. Be original and be you, that’s what people love you for. Do not underestimate yourself and be patient with what you are doing, nobody becomes a star overnight.

Be consistent, it’s the key to your long-term success. Do not do it just for the sake of followers and likes, do it more for yourself.
The more you’ll enjoy, most others will. Cut off the negativity from everywhere and surround yourself with people who uplift you which is the most important. And, please take care of your mental health, don’t be a tech slave!
