All About Quizlet Live Study App

Quizlet, a company that has received investment from Education tech, has finally created a product called Quizlet Live that can be used by teachers to teach their class. It’s an online matching game of question-and-answer for small teams to play face-to-face while being in the same room.

Earlier, Quizlet became popular as a Web and mobile app which had a function where users could input their own study materials and it would turn them into games. Some Quizlet games where like flashcards, others were more like Space Invaders than looking like study tools.

Quizlet: An Overview

Quizlet was founded in 2005, which always resisted taking any investment capital from any company until late 2015, when Andrew Sutherland, its CTO, and founder, then decided funding or the investment can help the company scale internationally which was their goal and they wished to achieve this.

The company just closed $12 million in Series A funding from Costanoa Venture Capital, Union Square Ventures, Altos Ventures, and Owl Ventures.

Quizlet Live

Quizlet is planning to translate its first mobile apps into multiple languages and they have already started the project. Quizlet Live is currently available in English which can be used as a quiz for the students on foreign language materials.

Teachers already know why they like Quizlet Live because it helps them to set up teams within their classroom in very less time. Grouping is all done through the app, which means selected students don’t have to wait and they are not randomly joined with another member so they don't have to worry about getting embarrassed.

Once teachers start a game, each student will receive a code that they can use to log into Quizlet Live from any device.

Each team member has a small list of possible answers. For example, if the Quizlet Live screen flashes some questions then students have to look around to figure out if anyone on their team has the answer, on his or her multiple-choice list.

If yes, the team is expected to pinpoint a correct answer together, and they will score a point. If no, the team is supposed to show restraint. If they get one answer wrong, the score will be zero, In simple words, it will reset.

The teams that take their time have higher levels of accuracy and mostly they beat the teams that try to do everything as fast as possible and give answers without consulting one another with their team.

Quizlet Live: Motive

Quizlet Live's main motive is to help students master soft, social skills and also supposed to help them master reading material or hard content from world capitals to basic chemistry.

There are 125 million study sets on the Quizlet platform as game fodder which can be used by any teacher at any time.

The spokesperson has told the media that the app isn’t a substitute for a trial version of software to some premium, enterprise software from the company. Though, Quizlet has said they will consider developing some paid apps or services for schools and districts soon.

During school hours, a lot of learning takes place and he always wanted to do something to improve it and he genuinely feels that the teacher loved his idea and was interested in using it again.

The company has recently surpassed the 2 billion marks on its study sessions combining both its apps and their website. About 1 billion of those happened during the last year, and this year alone they have gained 1 billion marks. And he plans to add more features and bring in new ideas for the app. He plans to make his app more interesting for the student so they feel like having fun and is working on improving teacher and student relationships through his app.
