Dubai Prepares for the World Expo 2020



Dubai, a city and also an emirate in the United Arab Emirates, which is well
known for a lively nightlife scene, prepares for Expo 2020 and has let the countdown recommence.

The Multibillion-dollar innovation fair, which is the largest to be held in Arab
world, is postponed by one year due to corona virus pandemic.

The organizers of the Expo 2020, in Dubai have confirmed nearly one year
ahead of its opening, that they are committed to this global event.


What is Expo?

Expos are basically global events that have been dedicated to finding
solutions to fundamental challenges facing humanity. These exhibitions take
place by offering a journey inside a chosen theme through engaging and
immersive activities.

These events vary in character and are held in different parts of the world,
at a specific site for a period of time, which usually ranges from three to six
months.

This global event, Expo, is organised and facilitated by governments. Also,
Expo brings together countries and international organisations (Official
Participants). These major events gather millions of visitors, and tend to
create new dynamics and also, catalyse change in their host cities.

The International sanctioning body for such international exhibitions that
take place on a regular basis is being served by The Bereau of International
Expositions (BIE).

With respect to types, four types of Expo are said to be organised under the
auspices of the Bereau International des Expositions (BIE). They
include, World Expos, Specialised Expos, Horticultural Expos, and
the Triennale di Milano.


Dubai Expo 2020

The multibillion-dollar global innovation fair, set to be the largest such event
the Arab world as ever staged, for a duration of six-months, was expected to
start from October 20 this year and attract nearly 24 million visitors.

Earlier, the Expo 2020 was scheduled to open on October 2020, and to end
on April 2021. But, due to ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, the global event has
been postponed to 2021 and is rescheduled to start in October.

Exactly one year to expo, October 1st 2021 – March 31st 2022, Expo 2020
definitely looks forward to reconnecting the world and is all set to bring the
world together in optimism and hope for a better tomorrow.

On November 27, 2013, Dubai was awarded as the host for Expo 2020, in
Paris, by The Bereau International des Expositions (BIE) general assembly.
Nearly, more than 190 countries have announced their participation in Expo
2020.

The expo 2020 has come up with a very interesting theme called
"Connecting Minds, Creating the Future". In addition to this, apart from the
main theme, the expo 2020 will also come up with three subthemes:
opportunity, mobility and sustainability.

With respect to the name, the organization committee had said that despite the one-year postponement to 2021, the Expo 2020 will retain its name.

A particular statement on the event’s website stated that, this event will
remain committed to hosting an exceptional event and this is said to be
celebrating humanity’s resilience, creativity, culture and innovation,
including major recent advances in the field of science and medicine.


Latest Updates on Expo 2020

As of 8th October 2020, Dubai Expo 2020 and its Premier Global Trade
partner, DP world, have joined forces and have become a global Alliance
Founding Partner of The Earthshot Prize.

The Earthshot Prize is a huge, global environmental prize that seeks to
improve life on earth for generations to come. This prize is the most
ambitious environmental prize in history.

It has been decided that, for 10 years, five Earthshot Prize winners will be
awarded every year, with the objective being, to provide at least quite a few solutions to some of the world’s greatest problems by 2030.

Expo 2020 and DP World, together they form an unique set of challenges
which is rooted in science. This aims to generate new ways of thinking, as
well as new systems, technologies, solutions and policies.

As of 1st October 2020, with one year to go until Expo 2020 Dubai
welcomes the world on 1st October 2021. Expo is said to be ready to build a
strong, sustainable future for everyone, on a global basis.

Excitement is currently building for the event that will run from 1 October
2021 until 31 March 2022. The huge event is also said to inspire more than 190 participating countries which include, millions of visitors.


Expo 2020 Launches Pre Event Space Week

"Space Week", a two-day digital event was launched in Dubai's Expo 2020. This particular event mainly featured on space travel and exploration.

October 5-6th witnessed the Space week. Expo 2020 international
participants, official partners and the general public were brought together
by this event in order to highlight the latest innovations in space research
and travel.

In addition, the Space week event also held discussion on topics like, the
participation of women in the space sector and the UAE space landscape.
