Rare Flowers Species in India

 

What do you do when your friend feels depressed or when you want to apologize to your friend? You gift them something, right? Have you ever gifted your friend a bouquet or a flowering plant? There are thousands of species of flowering plants in this world. Few of them are wild, few give good fragrance, few make us feel relieved, and few showers love. All we need to do is take care of plants; it returns us a lot of benefits. There are rare species of flowers about which we have no idea. Let us get to know about the rare flowers of India.

Rebe:

Rebe is a rare beautiful flowering plant that belongs to the begonia family. The plant measures up to 30 cm and the flower has two sepals and petals. This was rediscovered after many years by a group of scientists in Arunachal Pradesh. It is also a medicinal plant. The flower petals are used to treat stomach pain and dehydration.

Indian Lotus:

The scientific name of this big flowering plant is Nelumbo nucifera. It is an aquatic plant also commonly called ‘water lily’. The chemicals in lotus flower can treat cancer-causing agents, improve skin health, protects the brain and liver. It also reduces blood sugar, kills bacteria, and also reduces fat. Water Lily is mostly grown in water gardens in India. Lotus rhizomes are used as vegetables. It also relieves anxiety and stress.

Tuberose:

Tuberose is a white tube structured flower that smells good at night. Its scientific name is Polianthes tuberosa. It is also colloquially known as Rajinigandha and Nishigandha. The oil extracted from these flowers is used as anti-depressant oil. It relieves stress giving a good aroma. It improves stamina, treats cataracts, prevents anemia, and promotes relaxation. The tuberose essential oil is used as an aphrodisiac in herbal medicines and aromatherapy. It moistures skin lowers nausea, heals cracked heels, and wipes out body odor.

Jade Vine:

The scientific name of Jade Vine is Strongylodon Macrobotrys and the local name is Tayabak. It has a beautiful blue-green shade that came from malvin and saponarin pigments after pollination and looks gorgeous. This plant can grow up to 18 meters and the flowers usually bloom in the spring season. These flowers are pollinated by bats and they are rarely grown. These are used for decorative purposes as it is an ornamental species.

Kaka beak:

Kaka beak belongs to the pea family; they usually grow up to 2-3 meters. It is scientifically known as Clianthus puniceas. The beaks like flowers are purple-red in color and attract pollinators. The flowers bloom from spring to summer. The stems are easily broken as they woody watery in texture. This is a wild plant but attracts our view of it. The plant usually gets attacked by caterpillars or snails. If you want to buy this plant and grow you must see that your kids should be away from the plant to avoid snail bites which happen rarely.

Palash Tree:

Palash tree is a flowering plant that is medium in size. It is colloquially known as Bastard Teak or Bengal Kino. It is known as ‘Flame of the forest’ as it is red in color. This is a rare medicinal plant that is used to cure many diseases. It is a clinical species, to be precise. The flowers, gum obtained from plants, seeds, and the oil extracted from flowers are used for different medical purposes. This flower has anti-diarrheal, anti-diabetic anti-stress, anti-fungal, and anti-helminthic properties. It even can cure cataracts in the eyes, swellings, fever, leucorrhoea, sore throat, and stomach infections.

Lobster Claw:

Lobster claw flowers are amazingly attractive and you would never take your sight from them if you love the color. The flower got the name as its structure looks like the claw of a lobster. It is also called a parrot flower. The plant can bloom around 20 flowers per stalk. They are used for decorative purposes.

We know many things are being exotic species, if we get to know about these and try to cultivate them or support their growth we would not miss nature’s gift.
