Pasquale Autorino - What You Have in Your Soul That Could Become a Global Language (Photographer)

Pasquale Autorino

Without a reason, in front of my eyes, photographic scenes and images appear which I then try to replicate in real life, making them tangible.

1. Tell us something about your background and journey.

My photographic artistic path was born in a not very bright period of my life. I started photographing almost as an outlet, out of necessity, in order not to implode. I come from a background in Advertising Graphics, Psychology of Color and Shape and Advertising Photography.

By merging my studies with my soul and my torment, photographic works were born that I now realize in a way necessary for the continuation of my life. At first I didn't think in the least that I would be able to get to where I am today. My path was born and continues to be pure.

2. How would you describe your style in photography?

- Mystical and Romantic

3. What is the thought process before selecting a Theme?

I take a lot of inspiration from my unconscious. I've always had a troubled relationship with sleep. I have always dreamed of scenarios, mystical and surreal images. I have always had a great imagination from an early age. The theme of one of my projects starts from “A Vision”.

Without a reason, in front of my eyes, photographic scenes and images appear which I then try to replicate in real life, making them tangible. The satisfaction it creates when I can do it is truly infinite.

4. What is the most difficult part of working as a Photographer?

Being a photographer especially in this period is really very difficult. In my case, the biggest difficulty was making my style understood. He worked a lot on me by smoothing out the sides that could be less understandable. In doing so, with years of hard work I managed to impose my photographic style as a trendy novelty.

I reached the qualitative leap when I started to launch into the publishing world where my style fits perfectly because I am able to blend art and commercial vision as an advertiser. In essence, the difficulty lies in distinguishing oneself from the considerable competition by doing it with taste and with a clear and artistic vision.

5. What is your definition of being an Artist?

For me, being an artist means having something to say, communicate, arouse. But at the same time I think that an artist can define himself as such when he manages to support himself with his art independently. Only in this way can one be fully artists and not simply misunderstood.

6. Who is your favorite photographer and why?

My favorite photographer was also a painter and artist. Man Ray exponent of the current of Dadaism is the artistic figure who despite having lived several years ago gave me the strength to believe in my dreams and to transform myself into real through my photographic works.

7. What advice would you give to aspiring Photographers?

This is a question that I am often asked. In my opinion, there is no correct answer. What I feel like saying and really understanding before starting to photograph is what you have in your soul that could become a global language if you show it to the world.

It is not a simple process. Journeys of profound introspection must be made. Once resurrected to grasp that matter, bring it into the conscious and make it pleasing to the eye by mixing it with class and attention. Do not be afraid but be attentive to others.

8. Which is your favorite book and why?

I have read several books but surely the book that most influenced me and my artistic current was the Bible.
