If it was about the achievement in work, the recent project I completed with Amazon Prime for the movie Maara was a very challenging work, completing about three large walls in the prime location in the Chennai city in just 6 days time, where we lost almost half the days in Chennai rains. It was a big achievement to pull it off in the mentioned timeline.
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
I am Chris Blair Vincent, popularly known as Silverbrush. I'm a self taught Artist, and a Designer. I am from Kerala, now settled in Chennai, running my own firm Silverbrush Studio. I completed my engineering from Chennai, on the way realized that my passion lied in staying creative.
I always use to draw, right from childhood starting with mountains and birds. When in our childhood, we don't have limitations for imagination, the concept of realism, reality isn't actually concreted in our mind, as the quote "Every adult is a child who survived."
It's when we stop letting our mind to wander, dream and think beyond what we see, we loose the creative child in us. Sorry, I lost my track. But think this could be added. So yeah, after Engineering back then, there was not much opportunity or I didn't have clarity how to make a living out of Art.
Though I was freelancing, there was a lot of struggle I faced. I chose to explore the design world aiming to find more stability in career, as well as to stay on my creative high. Close to 2 years of Design Job helped me take a decision that I need to be my own, start my company and work without any limits.
Of course working in a design firm had made me more disciplined with the way I work, my design process helped me in my art. I started putting more effort in deep research prior to my art projects.
2. What has been the biggest challenge that you faced and how did you overcome it?
Biggest challenge I faced was choosing to become what I do today. When working in Delhi, there was this time I was saturated with work, and I really needed to explore more on my own. I resigned my job and when I started on my own, it was just a one man company, and I addressed me as we.
I started to see big, it was difficult to convince my clients but learned through the process, and it was the right decision I took at the right time I believe.
3. What has been your greatest achievement?
Every small step I take towards my goals has been greatest achievement..I try to find happiness in little things, and guess each work gives me so much joy, so every time it's an achievement worth and great.
If it was about the achievement in work, the recent project I completed with Amazon Prime for the movie Maara was a very challenging work, completing about three large walls in the prime location in the Chennai city in just 6 days time, where we lost almost half the days in Chennai rains. 4. How and when did you realize your passion for art?
My passion for Art. As I mentioned earlier, I was a child who loved colours, it was always my hobby to scribble in my notebooks right from childhood to even in college. Somewhere on the way, when in college the hobby slowly grew into a deep passion, as I grew up.
I admire my work more than anyone else, I would have stared at it for hours, every single day, putting my heart and soul painting them, and loosing myself, every time finding myself. It's something I would give the rest of my life to. Art heals, view some, make some, there's no wrong way.
5. What advice would you like to give to the aspiring artists and followers?
The only easy advice I can give to my followers and aspiring artists would be stay committed. Stay hungry for opportunities, stay dedicated and stay consistent.
It wasn't an easy journey for me as an Artist, it still is not.
In this fast paced life, there is no time for anyone to contribute to help others, it's everyone's race. Find your own strategy, but foremost all, the best thing to do is follow your heart. Do what you love, keep doing it and don't stop.
