I have been one of the beauty bloggers on Instagram since 2014 and have been working with various high-end and prestigious beauty and skincare brands. I was also a tourism ambassador of Abudhabi and Japan before. In 2020, I launched my own beauty brand TRUTHIS BEAUTY.
1. Tell us something about your Background and Journey?
I am Giann Chan, born and raised in Hong Kong. I've been an Instagram influencer for 8 years. Back in 2011, a small number of users were using Instagram in Asia. At first, it became a way to share my experiences with my friends, then it quickly turned into a passion.
I started posting quality photography and my followers increased day by day. (It's super easy to reach a popular page in that time). In 2014, I started to receive collaborations, and this became my new Me and my new job.
2. What inspired you to start your own Skincare Brand?
I've been receiving countless beauty questions from my followers. Hence, it inspired me to find a satisfying skincare formula that is truly suitable for oriental women. I genuinely like to solve women’s problems and share my beauty experience through the brand and platform. As the name implies, my brand name is " Truthis "; it depicts the truth of beauty.
3. What sets your brand apart from other existing Brands?
Most of the existing big brands are originated in occident. They might not all applicable for oriental women. But since I am from Asia and 80% of my followers are women, I know the circumstances and the problem faced by the end-users.
4. How would you define Beauty?
To me, beauty is more than what you see on the outside. Being beautiful is being yourself. Don’t feel obligated to be someone you're not.
Beauty is so much more than the physical exterior of a person. I think what is inside matters even more than what is on the outside. Because what’s on the inside shows the true you, your true beauty.
5. What keeps you Inspired and Motivated?
I keep myself motivated. The day you begin to be self-motivated will be the day you become truly successful. You can't depend on someone else to boost you morally all the time.
6. What is your Idea of Success?
Enjoying the moment in life, embrace yourself, and able to help someone means success for me.
7. What advice would you give to aspiring Women Entrepreneurs?
Look forward, not back.
Know your worth and always love what you do.
8. Which is your favorite book and Why?
" What Are You Doing With Your Life? "
It describes how change within the individual brings about change in society. I love it because it gave me everlasting inner peace.
