Let them try out all the tools they can at first, so that little by little they can specialise in what they like best.
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
I'm Jose Gallardo, 3D Artist, based in Madrid (Spain). Specialized in physical simulations such as liquids, fumes, fabrics, particles...
My work is based on adding a plus of reality and spectacularity to conventional product-oriented or abstract art animations.
2. How and when did you realize your passion for visual arts?
My professional career begins as a graphic designer. A few years later, after seeing the things that could be done in advertising with 3D, I started to get interested and to do tutorials that the net offered me until I got the necessary level to be able to develop 3D within an e-commerce company.
There I discovered the power of product advertising and all the possibilities that I had and thus be able to grow and get into one of the best design and 3D studies as Serial Cut can work for major brands and learn exponentially every day.
3. What role does the artist have in society?
To give pleasure to the eye, to make everyday life more pleasant and to inspire other artists to be able to create and move society forward in all areas of art and life.
4. Describe your favourite visual effect from a movie. Why do you like it?
I don't have any particular visual effect as a favourite, but in general, I find all the destructions incredible, above all because of the complexity and the amount of dynamic elements, particles, fumes... It takes almost all the physical elements, in one action.
5.What do you think is the best method to review visuals for corrections? And What is your favourite software to work with?
The best method to review the visual pieces is to open it in Photoshop and paint over it adding notes, removing objects, drawing new ones...My favourite software to give colour to my pieces is cinema 4D, and the favourite one to make simulations of liquids and particles is Realflow and Houdini
6. What is the one piece of advice that you would give to aspiring visual artists?
Let them try out all the tools they can at first, so that little by little they can specialise in what they like best. When you like something, you work on it much better and the progression is faster.
