Nikhil Rathore - You Have To Listen To Your Listener Very Well And Give Them The Priority (RJ)

Nikhil Rathore

My first step was to assist someone who can give me the root knowledge of Radio Programming, so I got an opportunity to assist Mr Rajat Menghnani who was a great RJ of all time and also handling Executive producer’s profile for a Radio Station. And guess with my current position with Radio City, he is my reporting manager.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I am Nikhil Rathore known as RJ NIKHIL, working as a Radio Jockey with Radio City 91.9 FM Udaipur (Rajasthan), Marwari by birth, Rajput by genes.

So talking about my profession! It was not easy to choose this profession because I have a family where everyone is a govt officer, so it was a big pressure on me to be a govt officer, but I choose a different path for my carrier and after so many attempts to make my parents understand and get comfortable with my decision, the real struggle starts...

The journey was started around 9 years ago as a programming intern with a reputed radio station, where I learned radio hygiene, radio programming and trained to be a radio jockey.

Got my first shot with All India Radio as a casual announcer, and professionally started my carrier as a radio jockey with 92.7 BIG FM, where I hosted various shows for Rajasthan, M.P. and Gujrat stations as a Regional Radio Jockey.

In that time, I got many opportunities to build a strong PR in various sectors like Bollywood, Govt. bodies, Sports, hosted live events like Sunburn Reloaded, World Music Fest, Celebrity Nights, one to one conversations with celebrities. I worked with BIG FM for almost 4 years.

Then I joined the Pioneer of Radio industry, Radio City 91.9 FM and this brand helped me to groom more with my play area and taught me how to be limitless. It’s been 3 years I am working with Radio City and I can proudly say, this is the best place to work.

2. Why did you choose RJing as a career and what were the first steps you took?

I am actually still confused why I did that hahaha, but I am happy with my decision, but honestly, this is my passion so I am following this...
