1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Software Professional with 25 years of experience. Came into the field of Cyber Security in the starting years of 2003-2004. Was running a successful Software Solution and Training organisation in my home town Agra. Started the venture in 1997.

When few law enforcement officers of the city started seeking help in few Digital Crimes and that was the trigger for me to Start Educating people on Online Safety. And my biggest opportunity to the road of Cyber Security was the FIRST National Conference on Cyber Crime and Cyber Laws 2008 organised by Uttar Pradesh Police Agra.

Where I was in the organising committee and First Speaker - that was the starting point from where IAMAI Internet and Mobile Association of India offered me the first Cyber Awareness Project called “SAFE SURFING” Supported by Government of India NIXI - to educate 2.5 lac students in India.

2. Why is cybersecurity is so important in this digital economy?

Has already increased during the covid-19 period of lockdown as more and more people were online and were working from home. In news recently a young technology guy from London who lost Job and was in debt duped 22000 people with crores of rupees by running FAKE SHOPPING WEBSITES.

Collaborating with NGO’s, State Police, Corporates, Associations, Educations Boards etc to spread awareness. Conducting webinars, sessions for all stakeholders.

I am an advisor to a Global NGO- CYBER PEACE FOUNDATION where we did various projects with different state police like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Delhi Police and Punjab Police etc where we educate people on cyber safety. Also doing a Women Online Safety initiative with IAMAI and Facebook where we have outreached to 75000 women till date.

5. What are the technical skills they need to develop and how they endorse this field to be successful?

Clear concepts on Operating System, Networking, Web Applications, Programming, and Understanding vulnerabilities and securing the loopholes. Cyber Security is a PROCESS which keeps evolving with new technologies.

Drones, IOT’s, AI, ML the new way forward to upgrade.

6. Any suggestions for business owners to keep their sensitive data safe in this WFH situation as an employee can access the sensitive data from their home.

Need to ensure DLP Data Leakage Prevention. Strong Cybersecurity policies are required. First is to understand the various categories of data they capture. Data Security and Prevention should be the first priority of every tech organisation
