Izabela Switon Kulinska - Being Part of the Boss Babes Community Helped Me a Lot in Transforming From a Personal Account Into a Business Account (Entrepreneur)

At age 21, I have been selected to the finale of Look Models Search by Elite model agency and by age of 23 I entered the Miss Poland contest.

A modelling career didn’t stop me from receiving a formal education which has always been my priority. I have a master’s degree in history of art and many courses within the fashion and business field.

In 2013 I co-founded the fashion brand Désirée Fashion.

Tell us about your background and journey.

I have entered the fashion world when I was 15 years old and started to work as a model ever since. I have been featured in magazines, walked many catwalks, and played in TV commercials.

In 2013 I co-founded the fashion brand Désirée Fashion, where I was designing and producing limited editions of dresses. In 2016 I founded another business, my own Fashion Shows Production and luxury events agency.

I have also been very active in women empowerment movements, I became a founding member or famous Boss Babes and mentor and mentee in the Inspired Women Lead program.

What led you to start your page on Instagram?

In 2018 I started to use my Instagram account that before I just had downloaded on my phone. I was home with my newborn baby and I much had more time to discover this platform, I thought that it could share my experience and content with my small audience that I had at that time.

Being part of the Boss Babes community helped me a lot in transforming from a personal account into a business account and growing my audience.

Later this account developed to the creation of the BellaZofia website that launched in early 2019. Since then I fell in love with blogging about fashion, beauty, travel, and lifestyle. I have also started to work as a freelance journalist for a few magazines, where I wrote about fashion weeks, the fashion industry, and beauty.

Do you think that there will be a new style statement or fashion obsession with the new normal? If so, what would be your choice and why?

Lockdowns and new normal hugely impacted the fashion industry. I have already noticed that more and more brands are finding new ways to become more sustainable, to produce less waste, and to find a simpler supply chain. As staying home allows us to explore more casual styles then we can invest more in good quality loungewear or sportswear for home workouts.

While working from home we need to look smart on zoom calls, but fashion is more relaxed, like for example casual suits that will be more and more visible in the SS21 or maxi dresses ideal for city walks or aperitif time.

What do you think are the most important qualities of a successful entrepreneur?

I always believed that to be successful at anything we do, we need to be passionate about it. With passion, other qualities will follow, like motivation or persistence.

I find myself as a lucky person to discover my passions early in life, but I can’t stretch it enough how important it is to find it and never stop searching for it. I also believe that creativity plays a big role in being an entrepreneur, alongside self-discipline.

What are your tips for the first time and aspiring entrepreneurs?

That you can start the business that you have in mind now, as now is the best time to do it. There is never a better time, even though you are not 100% ready. There will be many mistakes during that journey, but these mistakes and failures are the most important part of success.

What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

I always follow my instincts and never decide to do something that doesn’t feel right. Very often on contrary, I decided to do something that sounds crazy to other people, but my instincts feel good about it.
