About the Book
‘What do you do when the person you love will forever be someone else’s?’
On the face of things around, Benoy’s life is extremely perfect. He drives a Bentley, lives all alone in a big mansion and has all the luxuries one could imagine. For the people around him, he is a spoilt – a rich brat, the quintessential college-stud and a heart breaker, but does everything is exactly how it seems? Who is the real Benoy?
The story revolves around how he picks up the pieces of his life and the struggles involved in order to come to terms with his mother’s untimely death, and a way much strained relationship with his father, who hasn’t seen much of.
A big car, a huge mansion, does it really cover up for the loss of a loved one? Despite having everything luxurious in life, he still feels incomplete.
This book is a true story which is based on the author’s brother, Benoy Roy.
‘You Were My Crush’ is a constant feature on the AC Nielsen-Bookscan Top 250 books and has also been opened at the No. 3 spot.
The Bottom Line
Personally, I like Durjoy’s way of defining things through his simple writing skills. The way he narrates the story is very understandable. He always portrays all the characters very efficiently. The scene where he explains the past memories of Benoy’s mother is worth reading more than once. There is nothing to get bored of.
It has been claimed to be the most liked book on Facebook pre-release. It was like watching a movie. The whole story is amazing with the pinch of all the flavors of romance, sadness, friendship, family, laughs, heartbreaks, but in the end, a happily ever after.
Though the book is an outstanding example of life, its difficulties and its sweetness, all of Durjoy's books follow similar story lines, which might often seem boring and repetitive to the readers.
