Tell us more about your background and journey.

I’m a business strategist and branding advisor, who comes from an informal background of writing and blogging and making media.

Along the way, I’ve worked with some of the biggest companies in the world and I’ve had the pleasure to serve in many formats helping people learn how to do business at a distance. I’ve also written nine books and am working on my tenth.

When did you decide you wanted to be a writer?

I was five when I decided I wanted to be a writer. It took me until my 30s to actually publish a book.

Is it a financially stable career?

Writing? Not for very many people. It’s a tough business for sure.

Who is your favourite writer and why?

In fiction, I love William Gibson. His books (especially the early cyberpunk ones) had an incredible language to them that excited me.

Where does your inspiration lie?

A lot of what I write about is instructional in nature. I teach people how to do something or other in business or life. So my inspiration comes from answering questions people have brought to me over the years.

What does your typical day look like?

I bet nobody says they have a ’typical’ day. I sure don’t. I love to sleep So I do as much of that as I can. I watch YouTube videos. If I get desperate, I do chores. Sometimes, I work for clients so I can eat. And then, maybe, if I’ve run out of excuses, I write.

I used to love to write. I now write because I have to. It’s either write or die. Too many ideas in my head.

What piece of advice would you like to give to future aspiring writers?

The best advice to give a writer is to read. Read lots. Learn and learn and learn. But write while you learn. Produce. Read. Produce. That’s the model.

Which is your favourite book and why?

Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, because it was the first time I didn’t predict the ending.
