Gated
community homes have proliferated in recent times, hundreds of identical houses with every house possessing a car and a garage. But there are some peculiar gated
community homes around the world that house cars as well as planes, with
adequate parking for both these modes of transport.
The
tenants for these homes do their regular activities by the means of air- transportation.
These community homes are called an Airpark.
There
are about 650 such Airparks all around the world.
A Notable
one amongst them is The Cameron Park in California, USA.
Airparks are in the news once again with the recent sale of luxurious homes in California.
Once upon a time an airport was built in this Cameron park area.
However, there were many hurdles in making it available to the Public. With this,
the government put the projects aside and began the construction of houses around
the 61-acre airport.
Only
the extremely wealthy were able to afford these residential plots, many of whom
were already pilots or were interested in flying private jets.
With
nearly a hundred houses in the area, the general aviation sector has granted
them permission to operate small aircrafts in and around California by providing
them a different access to the main airport of California.
The
passion to fly the planes you own, brought in many potential buyers, gradually
houses were purchased along with private jets planes and huge garages were
setup adjacent to the house.
There
are small runways leading from each house to the main runway. The roads are 100
feet wide so that planes would not collide.
About
98 percent of the flights are used by families for personal use, while the rest
2 percent are for air taxi services.
The
only possible drawback of travelling in your private owned jets would be the scarcity
of parking garages or hangers throughout the world. Barring airports, very few countries
have provisions to host private jets and their owners, who are supposedly
running errands or are on a visit/tour
However,
the idea of housing yourself and all your items of luxury including your own
planes, seems to be an enticing residence for all the rich and successful throughout
the world.
