Fatma Ahmad - Now Blogging Is More About Talking and Putting the Word Out (Blogger From Dubai)

Bloggers were categorized only as those who have had a blog post and wrote their genuine thoughts on their website. But now blog posts have been hardly worked upon, as different social media platforms have taken away the charm of blogpost writing and the perspective has changed. 

Now it’s more about talking and putting the word out on any social media platform, the key is reaching out to the right audience through their writing.

Tell us about your background and Journey.

Fatma Ahmad a Punjabi born and raised in the beautiful city of Dubai- originally from Lahore Pakistan. HR Postgraduate started my career at a very early age and currently working in the automotive industry.



What led you to start your page on Instagram, and what is it about?

I have been always fond of writing and love exploring and trying out new products, fashion and makeup have been my favourite from childhood. The main reason for starting my page @famyglamy was; diverting my mind from many things, and encouraging women from all walks of life to care about themselves and prioritize themselves above anything and everything. 

I share my day to day life and review products that are pocket friendly and every woman from a housewife to a college and university going girl can afford them without burdening their pocket. Not everyone can go and get high-end products so my reviews and fashion styling is pocket friendly.



How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?

Back in day, bloggers were categorized only as those who have had a blog post and wrote their genuine thoughts on their website. But now blog posts have been hardly worked upon, as different social media platforms have taken away the charm of blogpost writing and the perspective has changed. 

Now it’s more about talking and putting the word out on any social media platform, the key is reaching out to the right audience through their writing. Whereas an influencer has a mass following where they have the power to influence a bigger crowd at different channels by what they wear, eat, hang out and maybe what they drive and their lifestyle.



Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today? 

Not really! It cannot be a full-time bread and butter unless you have good PR agencies with big brands and campaigns reaching you and who are ready to pay you handsome money for each campaign. 

We have seen changes in the social media trends changing from blogpost to YouTube and Facebook then Instagram and Snapchat and now TikTok and in future, you never know something new is already lined up. So it’s not one consistent platform and cannot be a source of permanent income.



What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

It’s always about hard work and consistency. Also never giving up. It’s always about improving every day and learning from mistakes. Importantly never bothering about what someone has said. Keep in mind not everything needs your reaction.



How can someone become a successful social media influencer?

Luck! Being successful on social media, luck plays a vital role and getting recognition well is an important part of being successful on social media.



Which is your favourite book, and why?

I am currently reading a book by Malcolm Gladwell, Talking to Strangers. It talks about how to be interactive with people it teaches many life lessons.
