An amazing and super entertaining story of three seemingly normal women, with families and children, driven into the dark arms of the mafia to fulfill their financial needs, ‘Good Girls’ is the perfect Netflix binge-watch. It is grim but funny and at times really really gross, but I promise you you will end up liking the show.

‘Good Girls’ is the story of three suburban Michigan mothers trying to make their ends meet and struggling to look after their families. Driven by piled-up mortgages, medical bills, and just day-to-day expenses that fail to get by with a minimum wage job, the trio decides to rob a grocery store.
They end up getting more money than they had planned and that’s how the trouble begins. But how far will they go to protect themselves and to make sure that they do not end up in jail or worse dead?
Plot - The Storyline
Beth, Ruby, and Annie have been friends forever and are really tight. When Beth finds out that her husband, who owns a car dealership, has been dipping his pen in the company ink and they are far behind on their mortgages, she looks for a way to get some money.
Meanwhile, Ruby, who earns little money and has a sick daughter, needs money to take care of her family. Annie is just a chill single mother and comparatively younger but struggling to meet ends with her job at Fine and Frugal that p[pays minimum wage.
Together they plan on robbing the grocery store where Annie works because she knows all the ins and outs and is confident the store has the money that they need. But it is not that simple. They end up robbing a lot more money than they had planned and as they are beginning to celebrate they get to know that the money actually belonged to a money laundering mafia gang and they come to collect it.
This is where they get involved with the gang and commit all sorts of crimes. They do so reluctantly in the beginning but soon Beth grows to like being a criminal and refuses to quit. While they continue to keep working for Rio (the extremely hot gang leader) their personal lives keep on getting topsy-turvy.
Soon they realize they need to quit the mafia when innocent people get murdered by the gang but getting out is much more difficult than getting in. They pay someone to kill Rio but he survives again and again. With a dangerous gang after them and the FBI close to discovering their crimes, will the ‘Good Girls’ make it? We’ll have to wait for the fifth and final season to confirm that.
Personal Verdict
While the show is kind of a typical American drama, I really enjoyed it because for the first time in a show it's the adults lying, scheming, and running around committing grave crimes and not a group of teenagers. The show provides a perspective on what’s behind the glimmer of suburban life.
It is also commendable how the show portrays three women taking charge of their lives and bringing in the dough (however illegally). The character of Beth is especially admirable. A mother of four and a wife who has been cheated on multiple times, who is so strong and a total badass. She is the only person able to handle Rio, even though it almost kills her, multiple times.
Ruby is a god-fearing and extremely religious woman who has to do all this just for the survival of her family and her daughter. She is constantly seen to be in a moral quandary, so much so it affects her soul. Annie on the other hand is a carefree woman. She is scared but still does what she has to do. I would recommend this show a hundred percent. It is extremely entertaining.
