There is no better feeling than writing a new joke for stage and it working in front of a live audience, so that is what i enjoy the most.
I have been cracking jokes all my life. It has been my thing since as far as i can remember. But the cities i was in before 2015 didn’t have live comedy happening. Finally when i moved to Delhi in 2015 I performed at my first open mic and never stopped.
2.What type of content do you enjoy producing the most and is the most challenging?
There is no better feeling than writing a new joke for stage and it working in front of a live audience, so that is what i enjoy the most. The challenge that I guess most people face is how to keep your stuff unique yet relatable.
3.Do you prefer digital as a medium or do you enjoy doing live gigs more and why?
Live gigs man, anyday. Ask anyone who has ever attended a live comedy show (a good one) and they will tell you how far better an experience that is. As for the performer, when the wave of laughter from the crowd hits you, its pure bliss.
4.People, who are interested in taking up stand-up comedy as a profession, do they need a funny bone or they can develop one?
I have seen enough people who were doubted but never quit to know its about persistence. If you really want to do it you will keep at it and one day you will gather enough crowd for yourself to keep on doing it.
5.How stable is being a stand-up comedian as a profession in India? And what is the future of this profession?
Well no one becomes a stand up comedian for stability. It will have its ups and downs but if you really love the craft it won’t matter to you. As for the future, who knows man, the third wave is coming.
6.What impact do you want to make in this world?
None whatsoever. There are good people out there making an impact in this world, environmentalists, activists, scientists. I just want to tell jokes.
7.Which is your favourite book and why?
Robinhood and his merry men. Won it in an essay writing competition in fifth standard which made me realise for the first time that i had a way with words.
