On days that one does not want to be dressed is also a statement in itself.
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
Professionally, I am a postgraduate in human resources and worked as a Head Hunter for senior-level hirings. Personally, I come from a very traditional Gujarati family.
2. What led you to take up this career path?
Image Consulting is my second career option, and it purely started as a way for me to enjoy fashion. a way for me to have my one entrepreneurial venture.
3. Do you think that there will be a new style statement or fashion obsession with the new normal? If so what would be your choice and why?
See there is always a style statement. On days that one does not want to be dressed is also a statement in itself. This new normal will see all kinds of people, someone who is tired of wearing sweats all the time to some time who is now more conscious of their shopping habits. As for me, I have always loved to dress up and this new normal had made me appreciate small home grown businesses more than ever.
4. What are some common myths in the society about Image consulting?
People feel Image Consulting is only for the rich and the famous. In today's day and age, as an Image consultant, my role is more to help women in transitional phases navigate their wardrobe choices. To make sure that their wardrobe is a true reflection of them and not a borrowed concept from the retailers.
5. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?
I don't think there is any mantra. My idea of happiness is really dependant on that stage in life and how each day goes.
6. Do you have any tips for people who want to join this field?
Be patient. As an Image consultant, there aren't any jobs in the market right now. So be prepared to start your own consulting firm.
7. Which is your favourite book and why?
I absolutely love Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.
8. What impact do you want to create in this field?
I want to democratize fashion for people who identify themselves as women. I want people to feel confident when they look in the mirror, to enjoy what they wear and how they dress. To make fashion, more real relatable, and wearable.
