Dominique Agerter - The Physical Condition Is Very Important, When You Ride A Race For 40 Minutes With The Heart Rate Of 180 This Is Very Tremending (Motorbike Racer, Switzerland)

It’s not so easy in Switzerland to really help the youngsters to make a profession or career. First of all because we have three-four months snow and bad weather so we can’t really ride.

1. Tell us about your background and journey?

When I was three years old on site car in front of my parent’s garage they had a motorbike and car in the garage so I start to ride them around the house. when I was five years I start my motor race career my first race, with nine I was Swiss champion and then with thirteen years old I was jumping out to road racing and with sixteen.

I got the opportunity to ride in world’s championship with one to five, three years and then I go to Moto2 for ten years, since two years Moto E and this year I will also ride super sport world championship.

2. How did you decide to make your passion your career? Was your family supportive?

This was always my passion the motorbike, the speed, the adrenaline, the sound, the smell, the competition with other motor riders.

From the family side they always supported me still very much and specially when I was young. Without family it is impossible to start professional Motorbike Career because you need help to drive to the race track, consist slithery road race track. You need sponsors, you need money to buy all the stuffs.

The last some years they could go back a little bit and my brother help me now for managing my contracts, my sponsors stuff, my travelling and all the fanshop stuff like this he is still making my mark.

3. Who is your favourite player and what have you learnt from him?

Here I get the number seven because of Barry Sheere, he was my favorite rider. He was always using the seven in motor race. When I jumped to road racing I take the seventy seven and he from my sight science I ride to road racing.

My idol is Valentino Rossi for sure, Kevin Schwant , they are incredible riders but I always follow my idols but also all other riders if I can take some scene what they do better than me I try to copy and try to make it that to be faster than them.

4. What is the level of commitment and time required to make a sport a career?

If you want to be a professional Motorbike Rider or a professional athlete. You need to spend all your time in your job this means all other job you work all the day for your dreams and that you can one day will champion and to be faster than all others and here our day life it’s more different than the normal people that maybe stand up at seven’o clock go to work till twelve and then from one to five.

Ours is little bit different because we travel a lot all around the world but the most of the time we are sportiest; I do a lot of running, cycling, gym, moto cross, super moto, dirt track like this just keep me fit for the season and on the racing bike we cannot really pee so much so this is the only thing I can do to be really focus and ready when the racing starts and then it’s also to eat healthy, to be mentally ready.

You have some sponsor events, some interviews. This is all the kind of stuff you need to do and it required a lot of time.

5. How can we encourage more youngsters to take up sports as a full time profession?

It’s not so easy in Switzerland to really help the youngsters to make a profession or career. First of all because we have three-four months snow and bad weather so we can’t really ride. Some of the cross in Switzerland and all altered road racing or super moto, dirt track to go to Italy, France, Germany.

So this is quite one thing and also the federation doesn’t help so much the young people to really make the step to be a world championship rider so this is why the last maybe ten years or fifteen years there is only one – two that is coming and when you can see in Spain and Italy they have like we have in Switzerland.

Football or for ice hockey they have in every town they have a small riding academy, they ride every week so from twenty small guys there is always one who have the talent, the support to get better and this is why there is so many riders in the World’s championship from Italy and Spain because they get a very good support already when they are young.

6. Which is your favourite book and why?

I don’t read any book so I don’t have favorite book but being honest I am not the book reader. I try to spend my time relaxed or training or do some social media work and this is checking news in newspaper.

7. What is your fitness mantra?

I train a lot. The physical condition is very important. Many people think that when you jump on a bike you must little bit open the throttle and easy going but physically when you ride a race for forty minutes with the heart rate of 180 this is very tremending.
