Money can be a very sensitive topic to most people, especially when it comes to investing, credit building, budgeting, etc. which are all crucial things to know but can be pretty confusing. That’s where financial vlogger Faares Quadri comes in!
His page is all about taking control of your money, teaching you things that you aren’t really taught in school. He is known for turning difficult yet important information into very simple funny skits for anyone to understand!
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
I pretty much grew up in Chicago, I went to school like everyone else, participated in all the activities just like everyone else, you can say I was like a poster child I did everything right. I tried hard in school, I tried to be as active as I possibly can, make many friends, etc.
Life was great when I was young. But as I grew older I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life, what career path I wanted to take. But when my counselor recommended taking a class about the business that all changed. I knew from day one this is something I really wanted to do.
Growing up in an immigrant household this wasn’t a “normal” career path. My parents wanted me to be a doctor/lawyer/engineer, mainly because of the high income and job security that comes with it. After much and much convincing, they agreed to let me study business and get a career in it.
I always knew I wanted to do something or have something of my own, but never really knew what. So I told myself I’ll just get a regular job and when an opportunity comes my way I’ll take it. In college, I started side hustles many of which ended up failing, but I learned a lot from it.
I kept on trying and trying new things while still in school until one finally stuck which was content creation and education. I always loved the concept of business and money and finance, but the education system in school didn’t really teach it. So I resorted to learning everything on my own online.
I always wanted to create content growing up, I mean that’s everyone’s dream to be a famous Youtuber or something of that sort. The one thing everyone said when you make content it has to be something that you genuinely enjoy.
So because I loved finance and money and side hustles, I started making videos educating and entertaining people around the world of finance and fell in love with it. I started growing a following, and to this day I’m still making content enjoying every little thing that goes with it.
2. What led you to start your blog and what is it about?
What led me to start my page is actually a funny story back in quarantine when everyone was bored and there was nothing to do everyone spent the majority of their day scrolling through TikTok, so I and my friends saw this as an opportunity. People were getting big overnight so we thought we should give it a chance as well.
So we made a little competition whoever gets the most followers within a month gets a free dinner once everything opens back up. The thing with TikTok is, you need to post videos around a certain niche and it’s best if it’s something you really enjoy because if you don’t you’ll get really bored of it.
So for me, it was finance, I continued to make videos, and a couple of my videos did really well. I pretty much fell in love with the game and I have been doing it since. And yes I won the competition, but I’m still waiting on my free dinner.
3. Is it financially sustainable to be a digital creator these days?
I think it is doable to be financially stable but to an extent... I think the type of videos you make plays a big role in that. The biggest thing is knowing how to monetize your following. I’ve seen creators with millions of followers still working their day jobs.
Then on the other side, I’ve seen creators with under 300k followers on TikTok make 5-6 figures a month from their following. So I think the potential is there for all creators, they just need to know how to monetize themselves.
4. How can someone become a successful content creator?
It’s actually very simple to become a content creator, everyone does or enjoys something unique in their lives. You can always make content around that. The biggest thing why we don’t see a large number of creators is because of consistency. In order to become successful in creating content, you have to be on another level of consistency.
If you look at all the big creators they legit posted for years before they had their final break. We as a society live in a “now, now now” mentality where if you don’t get something or see results right away you give up. So if you truly want to be successful in content creation put your head down and hustle and never miss a day!
5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?
When you make videos about what you genuinely enjoy or something you love to learn about, ideas will always come to you. When you do stuff just for the views or because it’s “hype” That’s when you get stuck and have no inspiration because you don’t actually enjoy it. Whereas if you’re doing something you really enjoy your brain will always be racing with thoughts and ideas, which becomes content for your page.
6. Who is your favorite creator and why?
I would say my favorite creator is Mr. Beast, even though he isn’t in my niche. His work ethic and story are unbelievable. His story is actually why he is my favorite creator. Mr. beast hustled like no one else. No matter what he kept going. And he doesn’t ever limit his thinking. If there is a “will there is a way”. He doesn’t set boundaries for himself. Every day he challenges himself to become a better person. Which is all something I wish to have in my life as well.
7. Which is your favorite book and why?
My favorite book, just like a lot of other people is called “rich dad, poor dad”. The book highlights the author having 2 father figures in his life his real father and his “best” friend’s father. His real father was a normal middle-class man with a decent job, but his friend’s dad was rich. He shared the different thinking both parents had.
One valued investing as a means of growing wealth, and the other thought of it as gambling. It is a great book for learning more about financial independence and building wealth through investing in assets, real estate investing, starting and owning businesses, as well as increasing one's financial knowledge.
