1) Tell us about your upbringing, background and journey?

Well, I grew up in a very fairly conventional family!! My mother is a doctor & even some maternal & paternal family members, too. 

It was a natural choice for me to take up the medical field for a mainstream career!! Even Dad being an engineer, he always had a dream of making his both daughters reputed doctors in future! 

Even in my childhood, I grew up playing in my mom’s clinic & on summer vacations in my maternal uncle’s hospital. So for me as a child, it was like living in a dream of being a doctor!! 

It was my own comfort zone around it! Mom & Dad both were working so I had no option for living all alone at home so I spent a lot of time at her clinic only!

 

2) Why did you choose to be a doctor and decide what you specifically want to do?

I always wanted to be a surgeon, working with scalpels, blades & those rare instruments were like that armamentarium for me which fills up my heart full of blood & each blood vessel with adrenaline, almost like a soldier for whom wars work in this way! 

As I said I always wanted to be a surgeon so I chose periodontology & oral implantology as a speciality, which is majorly concerned about Gum plastic surgery & oral implantology /sinus lifts! 

 

3) We salute your work during the pandemic, where did you get the inspiration to work so hard?

Thank you for your gratitude. A sense of being responsible Doctor I was truly inspired by my mother, my maternal uncle & auntie, who were taking time in their busy schedule & spending their some weekends as especially Sundays on free health care camp which was organised by NGOs  & some organisations like Sri Satya Sai Seva organisation & actively working in some organisations like this, it truly inspires me to work endlessly for patients & for mankind!! 

Even telephonic consultation was the first one that helped so many people during the pandemic!! even from the capital city of India & interior villages, people got an opportunity to get help through online & telephonic consultations! 

 

4) How do you expect digital health to grow over the next 5 years?

It is going to grow of course!!

But I don’t think so it will be as perfectly great as in-person consultations.

 

5) What are your concerns about Digital Health?

Well That patient & doctor’s bond, Trust & ease of diagnosis will be affected!! 

The doctor-patient relationship is usually very much affected due to discount offers & misleading information.

 

6) Can you let us know any one application of Digital Health in your country which has impressed you?

Online Pharmacies for sure!! it is truest amazing making miraculous move providing emergency service to geriatric patients, Needy & Handicapped patients. 

7) What is your message for aspiring doctors and the young generation? Which is the best medical college according to you?

My Golden advisory for aspiring doctors is - To check the reality of recent scenarios around you. Don’t Spend crores of your parents on education rather save it for building your assets, in future, you need to invest a lot in new medical technologies! 

Check the other career options even other than medical fields, if your parents can’t afford your fees don’t burden them to spend a bunch of money. Get a reality check of your field’s scopes after 5 years. Get a financial education also with your MBBS/BDS or any other paramedical education.

There is nothing like the best medical college in the country/world, you have to study on your own. Just check the patient flow of the institution & fees you are paying are worth it or not!!

Family comes first after your service. So focus on your true relationships also which are really important for you & your mental health during your budding journey & even throughout your career! 

 

8) What does your typical day look like and what do you like to do besides work?

Well, My day starts with a small prayer & gratitude paying to all those who helped me to live even today, I freshen up & walk to the workplace which is hardly 2 km away from my residence. 

I prefer walking over a vehicle because it pours blood into my body & activates my senses the I take breakfast & then I start seeing patients till 4 to 4:30 pm with a 15-20 minutes lunch break in the department. 

Apart from my work, I am an Indian classical singer & performer, a social media personality & social worker, I have my YouTube channel & social media account named “Doctor.creative” on which I post my singing videos often, I have achieved some awards in Indian classical singing category, even one of my Gujarati song is also available on all the digital platforms like jio saavn, wynk music, gaana, Apple Music & other apps. 

I love helping out people I used to serve as a teacher in one village of surat city for a year on Saturdays, even went for some free health care camps & being awarded for the same by Sri Satya Sai Seva organisation, 

For me, we are not just a doctor we are just humans like others, who have chosen a career in medicine but we still have to find ourselves too.
